Not counting 2003, how many boys do you see in today's review?

By wilson (Wilson) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 07:56 am:

seven
First Post
Seven on the 7th. What are the odds?

By Diana P. (Diana) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 07:57 am:

Looks like eight boys, and that includes the one in the Nativity scene. :-)
First Post
Though we are still looking for the Nativity Scene...

By Michael A (Maa) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 07:57 am:

Goo morning... looks like 7 boys to me
Third Post
And a Goo morning to you, too!

By Diana P. (Diana) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 08:01 am:

I can see the Nativity scene in the 2001 photo. Maybe I'm dreaming. :-)

finally got a early bird!!!
please keep in mine all those who lost their lives 71 years ago today in pearl harbor

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 08:46 am:

Agreed FJL!! I got my pasties yesterday afternoon, still "cool to the touch" after the long journey to the tropics. They are now residing in the freezer until the craving of home becomes too strong to resist.

Congrats on the funky bird Wilson, and yes keep those brave young men and women who gave their lives this day in 1941 in your thoughts today. Pearl Harbor is a place I have not yet visited, but is definitely on my to do list when we eventually visit Hawaii.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 08:50 am:

Congratulations, Wilson!
Even though I was only 6 at the time of Pearl Harbor, I remember it well. Six of my cousins (4 from 1 family) and one uncle enlisted shortly after that. One of those cousins, who was like a brother to us 4 sisters, didn't get a chance to come back home until the war was over.
The Nativity scene is beautiful!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 08:59 am:

Diana, I must've been looking through your eyes at first...'cause now I'm wondering if that is a Nativity creche or a heavily decorated building of some sort? :> Anyway, it's beautiful with all those lights!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 09:12 am:

Congrats, Wilson!!!!

My grandma was born on December 7th, long before Pearl Harbor Day. What an awful day that was for our country. Very sad :-(

Have a great day, everybody!

I'm not sure of the exact numbers but of the two thousand and some people who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941 several of them were from the U.P.

By Waveaction (Lakelover) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 04:17 pm:

Daveofmohawk (Daveofmohawk) Saw the special on TV6 news this morning and it was either 11 or 12 Yoopers lost during that terrible time.

Big snow coming Sunday. Getting the snowshoes ready.

God bless all of our Veterans, they seem to be having a tough go of it. :(

By DEAN SCHWARTZ SR. (Lulu) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 04:49 pm:

There were 2402 killed on 12/07/1941, 1282 wounded. There were 1177 killed on the U.S. Arizona.I have visited the Arizona many times. When you get on the launch to go out to the memorial there is a lot of talking and the usual banter. But once you step on to the memorial there is a silence. The U.S. Arizona is still leaking oil, the saying goes that it will stop when the last survior passes the oil will stop. If you served on the Arizona you can have your ash's put on the gun turret with others. It is a memorial to all of the "Greatest Generation". Please thank a veteran today and every day.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, December 7, 2012 - 05:01 pm:

Dean, I worked with a lady who visited the USS Arizona, she did say that oil still surfaces. She said it was quite the sight.

Does anyone know any specifics about the benefit for
Mike Sprenger? An article in the paper said he was
recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer
and does not have health insurance.

He seems to have some connection to Gitchee Gumee
Bible Camp.
