Today's newcomer to the Pasty Cam is Alyssa Rickard, who sent in some photos as part of our "Toast to 2012" project. When she took today's top photo, Alyssa was standing somewhere over on the Hancock side of the Portage Lift Bridge. I don't know exactly where her vantage point was, but she was able to get the Bridge and the snowy streets of Houghton in view for us all to enjoy.

Alyssa's second shot is an interesting study of icicles formed on the eaves of a building, with one of the towers of the Lift Bridge just out of focus beyond. I really like the black and white coloring in this shot, because it represents well, the grayness of the Keweenaw we experienced while the melt was happening with the warmer temps and rain we had a few days back.

Thanks for joining the Pasty Cam photographers team and sharing your photos!

Welcome, Alyssa! Interesting photos....I agree with Mary, about the second one. Wintertime for sure.

Welcome, Alyssa! I enjoy any pictures taken of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge!

Shirley, your post wasn't there while I was typing mine, and when I posted it and saw what you said, I just started laughing at how we both started our posts with the same two words. Thanks for the chuckle this morning!

Deb...Twins separated at birth, perhaps?
Nice pics! Judging from the angle of the dangle (and a little help from Google Maps), I'm guessing the first one was taken from the end of the trail that runs south of Quincy Mine.

Long lost sisters????

All I know, is I'm pretty sure I can see the Ambassador, and I'm salivating :-)

Deb, I think he's talking about our 'brilliant minds'...in posting the same thing.;>

The Ambassador--Yes! My husband and I will be meeting one of
my cousins there next Friday for lunch. Hooray! I just have to get
my presents organized so that I'm ready for Customs this weekend.

Nice photos, Alyssa.

You can be sure that the Dr. and I will be visiting the Ambassador a few times during Carnival. ;-)

Hi
DebS, as an ignorant troll, when you said "I'm pretty sure I can see the Ambassador, and I'm salivating " my first thought was that, somewhere in the picture, there was a hunky diplomat...

Kathryn i nearly spit my punch out when i read that :-)

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 - 03:09 pm:

It may be melting in the Keweenaw, but northern lower Michigan is in 4 a good snowstorm starting tonight. A white Christmas after all.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, December 20, 2012 - 11:13 am:

Thomas, all we're getting in the Ohio Valley is 'melted snow' pouring out of the clouds.:(
