John Dodge contacted Pasty Central and asked if we could showcase an upcoming event this weekend. He said he couldn't think of a better place to contact photo enthusiasts in the Copper Country, than right here on the Pasty Cam and I think he's probably right about that. If we've piqued your interest, please read on for more information about the event:

"Scott Kelby, author and trainer, is the overall organizer of the walk and currently there are 1100 walks scheduled, with over 20,000 participants, all over the world and now, the World Wide Photo Walk has come to the Copper Country. The walk will take place at Hunter's Point in Copper Harbor on October 13, 2012 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, followed by a get together at the Mariner North to compare photos. Steve Brimm, one of Michigan’s premier outdoor photographers, will be co-leader of the walk. He will answer questions and offer suggestions on subjects and techniques. For more details, visit Copper Harbor World Wide Photo Walk, where you can also sign up to participate in the Photo Walk. If you do plan on attending, please click on over to the web page before the day of the event and "Join the Walk". All the details are there on the page-exactly where to meet, what to bring, etc.
The Photo Walk is free and open to anyone who owns a camera. You can enter your best shot in the photo contest to win prizes."

Special thanks to Steve Brimm, for the beautiful Lake Superior and Aurora photos, showcasing some of the techniques and subjects he'll be there to share with participants, on this inaugural Photo Walk in the Keweenaw.

Superior! The first picture could pass for a painting!

Wow! I was up there for the Northern Lights on Sept 30th and they were spectactular. However, the photos I took don't look like this! Will Steve be offering a course on line for those of us who can't be there? I'd love some pointers on how to take good pictures of the aurora.

Wow! These photos are spectacular! I wish I could be there for the photo walk. It sounds like a wonderful experience. I'm sure those that are able to attend will have a fantastic time.

Beautiful!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - 02:51 pm:

Those are awesome photos today, thank you! The photo walk is scheduled on an interesting weekend, that happens to coincide with both Michigan Tech's Homecoming and Family Weekend. At least greater Houghton should be inundated with visitors! If you really want a bunch more people, perhaps Bob G., or someone, could get this event published in Michigan Tech's news, or something? If the weather cooperates this year, that could be awesome for the Copper Harbor area, too. I wish I could be up there!

The folks living north of the 45th parallel sure have been treated to a light show this year in the skies. Supposedly, the peak of solar activity will be in early 2013 so the best Northern Lights are yet to come. I'm hoping for the peak and clear skies between February 6 and 10.....

Sure wish I could have been in Copper Harbour this weekend for the photo walk; that's right up my alley as a nature/geologic photographer. K

These are great photos! I wish I didn't have to work, otherwise I would so be there.
