Today's photos were snapped by my son, Al Drew, on the Michigan Tech Campus in the early morning fog. He tells me that these photos don't do the Houghton sunrise in the fog justice, because it was like a huge, uncertain ball in the sky, causing a glow all around it. The gray of the fog, along with the brightness of the sun trying to shine through, leaves MTU looking just a bit eerie and spooky. Thanks for sharing your morning with us, Al.

Nice pics...I Have seen this effect once before in SE-MI, everything in the sky turns to gold.

I love fog, as long as I'm not driving in it. Some of the worst fogs we ever saw were in the LP during October....so bad we had to stop at a rest area and wait it out.

Just goes to show that it pays to always have your camera with you. Nice pictures!!

Were the fog horns sounding? I love that sound!

I remember lots of "spooky" days on campus, just like these pics. Great shots!

I liked to tell people that it was just another name for the Portage. It's a canal, a lake, a river, and (when the conditions are right) a cloud. The Cloud days were always cool - if you got up on top of the hill in either direction, you could see that the fog was sitting right above the water, and didn't drift too far away from it.

Another extremely bad spot for fogs is Bakersfield, CA. Smothery kind. A fellow took his dog out one morning and walked into a tree. One of those situations where you really can't see your hand in front of your face! "<

Great photos. There is something so peaceful and mysterious about fog.
