J.T. Reeder's photos have enriched this summer on the Pasty Cam, and our perspective of life in the late 1800's to early 1900's here in the Copper Country. This week we conclude with an excerpt from Matrix Magazine, in the Winter 2000 edition. You can read the major article here (pdf), but the entire issue - including bibliography and footnotes - is available from Penn Minerals.

JTR
John Thorley Reeder played an important role in the history of the Copper Country. He was productive in business, passionate in preserving social and natural history of the Keweenaw, and prolific in the emerging field of photography, of which we are the beneficiaries. Thanks to all the hard workers at the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum, Michigan Technological University Archives and Copper Country Historical Collections, Houghton and Keweenaw County Historical Societies, and J.T.'s descendants (notably Michael Cooper) for passing along the various Reeder collections and genealogy.

Have a great Labor Day, and have a good week :o)

Excellent work Charlie, and thanks for the Matrix article on the life of J.T. Reeder.

Is J.T. Reeder one of the guys in the Fort Wilkins Shoebox Memory from September of 2009? Maybe a self portrait?

2009

Perhaps J.T set up the shot and ran to appear in the picture himself. The Cooper's have identified all but the far right subject
