Which photo in today's review appeared in a national magazine? Guesses are OK.

A guess...2004...Kenny & Grace love pasties?
First Post

2004
Right. This photo appeared in Newsweek Magazine in January of 2004. And we had a zillion pasty orders!

That cover of Newsweek is all wrong....that model should be eating a pasty not a strawberry!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 06:49 am:

Good Morning. So we might even get some snow here tonight and tomorrow. My Tech Alum son is bemoaning the lack of snow downstate, in suburban Detroit. I was telling him to be careful what he wished for last night, because of the huge snow dumps in parts of Alaska. He said he'd take 18 FEET of snow, until I told him they had to bring in the National Guard to help dig out the roads and rooftops, etc, because even the Alaskans couldn't handle it, and rooftops and buildings were collapsing under the weight, since most of it fell in the last couple of weeks. No one has even mentioned having enough food stored in homes, to eat, when you have been snowbound for a couple of weeks, etc. He backed off some then, and decided that maybe 18 feet in just a couple of weeks is a bit excessive. (The Guard is very happy to help out, from what I've seen and heard.)

love the pictures. The 2005 picture needs a scarf and hat. That would be cute.

Love the 2011 picture, too.

Does anybody know where the Calumet fire was, in the 2003 picture?

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 07:57 am:

By FJL (Langoman) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 08:39 am:

Is that a bottle of ketchup on the pasty table???

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 08:50 am:

Good morning!! I just love Brita's 2 photos and Dino's. Awesome. Moonlit Winter Wonderland ranks right up there, too.

Got to sleep in today. No listening to the birds, though, even though our window was open. I think it's even too cold for them. Welcome winter, I guess!!

Have a great day, everybody!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 08:55 am:

FJL...HP sauce, if I can find some. Otherwise A-1 "Thick and Hearty", ooooooohhh yeeeeeeeaaa!
Will put a sweat on your brow, for sure :-)

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 01:14 pm:

Check Amazon for HP, Alex. Otherwise, I could have brought you up a case last summer as several stores around here have it, including Kroger.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 02:04 pm:

Thanks for the advice Capt...Kroger around here used to sell it as well, but I haven't seen it in a while. I get all tingly just thinking about the taste :-)

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 04:31 pm:

Well, there's a saying up here about firewood; it's called "Magic Wood", it heats you up twice. First when you split and stack it, second, when you sit in front of the woodstove and enjoy it. We are sitting in front of it and enjoying it today. Got over 9" so far in Ontonagon, it's all lake effect, love that powder. More to come. Finally got to snowshoe, felt good being out in the quiet of the woods and snow.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 05:05 pm:

Hollidays, sounds like you've got it made up there in 'winter wonderland'. We've had a bit of snow/rain/snow/nothing....right now. However this pattern is supposed to continue into midday Friday. I'm rootin' for the SUN!

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 05:30 pm:

Hope you get your sun, Shirley. I got my snow!

Hope this post isn't considered "chatting". :)

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 07:13 pm:

I guess we could throw a little HP on it.;9

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 07:40 pm:

Don't knock the HP unless you've tried it...

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 07:56 pm:

Goodness, Capt. Paul, I don't even know what HP is, except this one sitting beside my computer. Now, if it's HOT sauce, no thanky.....love the taste but hate the burn.:O (wrong page, but I'll take mine with gravy):}

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 09:05 pm:

HP Sauce

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 10:35 pm:

Ah, I see. Thanks Capt. Saw Lee & Perrins on that list too, my all-time favorite Worcestershire Sauce.
