The top Michigan musher in the Iditarod Sled Dog Race is Greg Hickman from McMillan. He's in 42nd place. But they quite a few more days to go. The other 2 mushers are from Mc Millan as well.

That powder house is in such good shape. No doubt as to what it was, minimal door, no windows, and walls like a foot thick. Looks as though it was built yesterday. I've photographed it many times.

Brings back memories of the old powder house on the road between #5 mine and #6 mine

I need some advice on getting a digital camera, zoom not needed.

By sur5er on Monday, March 7, 2005 - 06:45 pm:

I swear by the old fashionded 35 mm. Between the resolution; different lenses; shutter speeds; etc. you cannot get a better quality pic. My baby is a Cannon Rebel 2000.

If you really are interested in a digital camera, drop John Dee a line...the pics on his website from his digital are really nice and have high resolution. I'm sure he can give you some pointers on which digital cameras would be best for your needs.

DB: Give a look for pretty extensive reviews of a lot of digital cameras.

Sur5er: You should give the "Digital" Rebel a try

The choice between 35mm and digital depends on the abilities, I'd say, based on my own experiences. If you know your way around, 35mm can't be beat. I for myself use one, but am not much of a photographer, and use a zoom lens for convenience reasons which isn't always the best choice for high quality pics (zoom out). The result is not always up to what a friend of mine gets with his digital, especially under challenging light conditions. Just my experiences.

35mm with detachable lenses are the best..then you are almost always guarenteed great quality prints.
