Crystals and diamonds, all shiny and glistening, that's what icicles remind me of and what better day to give our gentlemen viewers a few hints about the type of gifts that are considered 'a girls best friend'! No, I'm not talking about the icy stalactites in today's shots here either, although a Valentine's trip to the Eben Ice Caves sounds like a great adventure to celebrate the day. Dan Brown made the trip which takes you 25 miles west of Munising on M-94, for a view of some impressive calcium carbonate deposits. Perhaps on your way back to town you can make a stop at the Munising Falls, where Tom Cook spotted quite the overhang of icy drippings. Top off the day with a dinner out on the town and Valentine's Day with your sweetheart will be complete. Well not quite, my advice is to send her a special greeting such as the one above, found in Barb Nelson's old postcard collection!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Great shots of the falls and the caves! Thanks! Have seen the falls several times in the grasp of the winter, but never the caves. Need to move that higher on the 'to do' list! I understand you can get there without trespassing now. Is that true?

Happy Valentine's to the Yoop and those who wish they were there!

Forecast of 81 in Keller Tx today, but I get to be in the CC on Saturday! Looking forward to being in the snow at least for the weekend!

Great day on Pasty yesterday with all the snow stories.

Great pictures today, too. The frozen falls up there are fascinating.

Happy Valentine's Day to all. Those of you lucky enough to have true loves, please treasure them and be good to them EVERY day.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Great pictures, esp the one of the falls! Nature provides the most magnificent sculptures! Thanks to the photographer for capturing it for the rest of us to enjoy.

What falls are those pictured above?

By Judy Chesaning, MI on Monday, February 14, 2005 - 01:45 pm:

Our entire world was covered by ice during the night as freezing rain fell over most of lower Michigan. The ABC station in Flint reported over 200 closings for schools and other places and events. The temp has soared to 48 degrees at 1:41 p.m. and water is standing in big ponds. It has been a strange winter here in the Saginaw Valley!

By sur5er on Monday, February 14, 2005 - 02:59 pm:

Please send snow to Indiana! It has been raining for the past 24 hours, here...giving the sump pump an extra workout.

Anywho, as I watched it rain yesterday, all I could think, "if only this were snow, instead of rain, we would have been blessed with several inches of that white stuff."

Better yet, if I were in the UP I would be having the time of my life in the snow. Sigh.

seeing the ice climbers on these is really cool

Just there on Saturday, what a beautiful day that was. My honey and I with my parents dog, sure was a good day for a walk. The snow was packed and the ice was melting a little. I always like to get there at least once a winter. Anyone been out on Pictured Rocks cross country trail system? You can always find good ice formations on the north side of the bluff and usually a few climbers too. Have a wonderful Valentines evening to all.

I love these old fashioned Valentines. I'm thinking of starting a collection of them. Anyone have any more to add here or to sell?
Happy Valentines Day everyone!!

Beautiful icy cold shots of the falls. Great job. Does the water still flow or is it frozen solid?? Enjoy the ice and the snow.
