Good morning all, from the slightly chilly Florida Keys.

Not sure but it looks like a 1960 Chevy parked down the street on the left.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Thursday, December 22, 2005 - 10:01 am:

Good morning. Expecting a heat wave here, in the 30's today. :( I don't want to see the snow go..it's been nice having the snow on the ground for the past few weeks...which is really a treat for us. Usually it snows, and then within a few days, it has melted...and then it looks blah.

Oh well, at least our heating bill will get a break for a day or so. How is everyone up north doing with their heating bills so far? Just opened my first bill for the winter, and am trying to find the decimal point ;) Hopefully Santa will leave me some coal...can use it to heat the house. :)

By Debra J McCumber (Debrajean) on Thursday, December 22, 2005 - 10:12 am:

I hear ya sur5er on the snow. We have had snow for 6 weeks now, it would be a shame to see it melt right before Christmas. I think we have enough on the ground here though to carry us through. I also hear ya on the gas bill - I dread checking the mail in the winter.

Have a great day and Happy Holidays everyone! : )

We're having a heat wave, too -- might get to 65 today here in the Sacramento area! I have to go to Pasty Central for my snow fix (like I do every morning).

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Thursday, December 22, 2005 - 11:31 am:

Good morning from Mishawaka, IN. It's warming up to 32 here today. Just like sur5er and Debrajean I hope the snow doesn't melt. They are calling for rain tomorrow evening into Saturday. Hope they are wrong.

I finished my Christmas shopping this morning. Glad to have it over with. As I was leaving the first store at about 7:45 the electric went off. The businesses in that area can't be thrilled with no power on a day when lots of people would normally be shopping. It was still out about 10:00.

I know what you mean about your gas bill, sur5er. I got mine the other day and it's the highest we've ever gotten. $60.00 more than the highes last year with 30 therms less used. I feel for those who are going to have a difficult time paying to stay warm this winter.

Hey, this was in the archives and I thought we could appreciate it again seeings how the weather has been commiserate:

When it's Christmas time in Michigan's UP,
And the gentle breezes blow,
About seventy miles an hour
And it's fifty-two below.

You can tell you're in DA UP
'cause the snow's up to your butt,
And you take a breath of Christmas air
And your nose holes both freeze shut.
The weather here is wonderful,
So I guess I'll hang around,
I could NEVER leave DA UP.
My feet are frozen to the ground!

Hello Everyone! Maybe someone can answer a question for me? I noticed that today in Sharon's web cam, the harbor appears to be water again, yet a few days back, it appeared to be frozen over. Does the ice normally come and go in the harbor or what? Just curious!

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Thursday, December 22, 2005 - 03:28 pm:

Received our first Pasty Central pasties as a Christmas gift from uncle Mike yesterday, we're reheating them tonight, can't wait! Had plenty of Tony's and Letho's many times, first time for Pasty Central/ Still Waters, the packaging was first class! Think I'll start sending them to my customers as well. Happy Holidays to all!
Regards,
UC

Great poem Margaret. Sounds like a old timer.
But so true of the Upper Peninsula.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Thursday, December 22, 2005 - 10:16 pm:

Our son got an early flight out of Seattle. Nice
to have some extra time with him. Also nice to
learn that when he tried to get "Standby"
status, as mlitary personnel, he moved up in
the line and in fact traveled first class from
Seattle to Chicago. After that, no more first
class, but who cares? We're so glad to have
him home safe and sound. His friends were
glad too, so he's off to meet up with them.
