Some U.P. falls keep on rushing all year long no matter how cold the temperatures get, others freeze in the midst of flowing over the edge, depending on the volume of water flowing over. These two shots of the Autrain Falls, taken by Tom Cook show us some of the ice and snow that has stuck to the edges already this winter. If you're looking to find this cascading water, head southwest on M-94, about 10 miles southwest of Munising. There should be a sign on the road telling you where you can find the falls. Happy hiking!

Would I be the early bird at 9am today?
Good morning to all

Good morning, looks like some type of construction going on at the east side of the motel parking lot on the bridge cam. What might that be??

By frank drake (Fdrake) on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 - 10:06 am:

No construction, just enclosed snowmobile trailers owned by some hopeful riders!

The buildings in the corner are always there.

Brrr. That looks so cold! And beautiful. Tom, I'll let you go and take photos while I curl up on my chair with my blanket, book, and a cup of coffee. :)

Wow, how wonderful to have that scene in your back yard.

It's an afghan kind of day down here. This is the grayest gray day so far! It's raining and I think the booms I'm hearing are thunder. Snow is gone, except for the piles beside the driveway. I don't mind Michigan weather as long as I have power and don't have to contend with ice underfoot or undertire!

Man do I miss the snow! The weather off of Myanmar (Burma) is like 90 and 100% humidity. I feel like a poached egg down here :(

Some of the nationalities I am working with down here are amazed by the Pasty Cam pictures-they have never seen snow and cannot believe people actually live in the UP. Some of them are passing the URL on to friends and family onshore all over Asia, so we should have some new visitors. They seem to particularly like the snow thermometer, btw :)

Hey Mr. Budd, hope the holidays are going well! Tell the boys I said hello and Merry Christmas.

Managed to see about one half hour of sunshine
here downstate today. It was wonderful!! It has
been gloomy here for over a week. Sunshine is a
welcomed sight.
