Sur5er, in answer to your question about Hermit Cookies from the Jampot, they are a rich cookie, (base similar to choc. chip etc.), although they are mildly spiced and include heaps of nuts, raisins and chocolate. I bet all their cookies are delicious!
I checked out the Ripley cam today and it seems the colors are really coming on now. Wish I was still there!

I don't know about the Hermit cookies from the Jampot (although my husband never passes up an opportunity to get some) ... they're too much for me. However, (and I really am questioning whether this is the smartest thing I've ever done ... afterall, letting out this secret will nearly guarantee that my favorite Jampot delicacy will be in short supply next time we visit...) the BEST ITEM THE JAMPOT SELLS IS THEIR GINGERSNAP COOKIES!!! They are just like the ones Great-Aunt Dora used to bake for us (only bigger)! Crisp on the outside ... soft in the center ... they are so, so yummy that I buy bags and bags everytime we stop in (which is at least once or twice a year). And they are ssssoooo good even frozen (explains the bags, eh?) Now, I know the Jampot closes real soon (if it isn't already closed) so I'm counting on the cold, freezing winter months to affect your memory of this and you will forget that I ever mentioned that the JAMPOT HAS THE BEST GINGERSNAP COOKIES IN THE WORLD!!!

Marc Slis (Marc); 200 nautical miles south of Mobile AL puts you in the Gulf of Mexico right? Whatcha doing there?

Kate,
The Hermit Cookies sound delish. I think I was done in, as soon as you mentioned spiced...and chocolate.

CindyMay, You are such a hoot...like the cold is going to affect our memories ;) You sound like me, hording those Thin Mint Girlscout cookies and stashing them in my deep freezer.
