I stand corrected...I am in the wrong season...or a season ahead...however you want to look at it. Around here, the stores have had their Christmas decorations out since the end of September.

Sharon has beautiful cam pics from Copper Harbor this morning as the fog lifts there.

I was thinking more in line with the Halloween theme. Commercial entities seem to want the Christmas season to start a little earlier each year. For me by the time the season arrives I'm a bit burned out after seeing 2& half months of Christmas everywhere you go. Sorry guess I'm ranting. Enjoy your day!!

I'm with you on the Christmas season being started way too early by the stores. I love the Christmas season...but don't like it pushed before Thanksgiving. So no...you're not ranting.
I took hubby to his semi late one night, last month. His semi was parked in a store parking lot...and as we went by the store, you could see the Christmas tree displays, with the lights on...in September? Way too early, eh.

I too agree that Christmas is pushed on us too early! I like to savor each season and holiday on its own. While I do have my Christmas shopping done by the end of October (I cannot stand crowds or shopping, the holiday combination will almost kill me) I am finding myself burned out on department store Christmas music by the beginning of December.

If you don't like the early Christmas decorations then do something about it! Vote! Vote with your wallet. If you are about to go into a store and you see they have already put up Christmas decorations then turn around and go somewhere else. I refuse to go into any store or restaurant that displays Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving, no matter how good the sale is. Sooner or later they will catch on.

Point well made, Cap'n'Dr (about leaving the dredge where it is), since it's hard to imagine what natural disaster would stir up Torch Lake.
On the other hand, this hands off attitude was displayed in other parts - like New Orleans vicinity. all that toxical waste is now flowing happily through the Carribean, and at least part of the Mississippi waters flow towards the Keys - guess if the stuff from New Orleans turns up in the fish there, some fisherman won't be all that happy about it. Customers neither.
At least, from over here, in the UP this seems to be no urgent problem right now.
On vacation here, I've seen waters posted as "active" - an euphemism I've later learned to indicate biological and chemical hazards, courtesy of the Red Army.
