Good morning everyone. Trying to get motivated here. With the thunderstoms last night, both Da Abbi and Bailey were up most of the night...and kept me and hubby up too, as they were trying to get into bed, to hide under the covers. ;)

Good Morning:

Took a ride to Big Traverse Bay--what a beautiful shore. But, on one side of the channel the black sand from the old Gay Stamping Mill has taken over. It is only a matter of time before it crosses over to the other side of the channel and destroys the lakeshore. Let us all contact Bart Stupak, or the D.E.Q. and alert them to this serious issue. We know what happened to Torch Lake, and all we could do is cover it up. This is an alert!!!

I have a question for anyone that can help me. My fiance and I would like to take off to the U.P. in a couple of weeks and tie the knot while we are there. We were thinking that the top of Brockway Mountain would be beautiful. The question is how do we go about finding someone that would marry us up there? Or anywhere scenic is fine......we have just decided that we don't want the big wedding thing and we both love the U.P. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Happy Birthday Mike - it's my birthday today too!

Motion sickness: There's quite a lot of ways supposed to deal with this, all working or not depending on one's personal experiences, but there's currently another approach that I don't remember in detail, but it includes quite a lot of Vitamin C, wether applied directly, eaten or injected, or just by following a certain diet. I don't remember the details, but perhaps you can do your own research.
That may sound like another belief-based project (nothing against those, since belief is important - hence placebo-effect), especially the diet part, but it's actually based on some scientifically based (another overused term) studies including the direct effects that cause people to feel motion sickness. I'm treading some very thin ice here, remembering very little and being by no means medically educated, but ... might be worth a look.
Should I remember where I read about it, I might add some more.

Could anyone give me the name of a dry cleaner in the Calumet/Houghton area that is capable of pressing a wedding gown? It will be taking a 10 hour car trip to your area at the end of the month and needs to be in pristine condition for the ceremony.

Debra- Former Distct Judge James M. Collins from Neganee Michigan Phone# 906-475-61, conducts a very nice Civil Ceremony at a place of your choice in Marquette County. Address P.O. Box 511, Neganee, MI 49866.

Debra,
Contact the Keweenaw County Court House in Eagle River, MI. That is where you would get the license and maybe they have some ideas.

Julwisc,
I checked the local phone book and Crown Cleaners (906-482-5330) of 305 Montezuma in Houghton that mentions bridal gowns. Hope this works for ya.

Note: If you are Michigan residents, you must get your marriage license in your county of residence, not the county in which you'll be married.
P.S. Thanks for the dry cleaner info.

By Julwisc (Julwisc) on Monday, September 19, 2005 - 05:01 pm:

Note #2: Michigan also has a 3-day waiting period, so don't wait until the last minute to get your marriage license!

Hi Debra....I would consider Holy Redeemer Church in Eagle Harbor...it is a Catholic Church established by Bishop Baraga and has some of his vestments on display. If you or your intended is Catholic it would be beautiful!!!!..... ...... There is a quaint, old, United Methodist Church in Lake Linden...with a very nice minister. also.... wonder if the Monks at Jacob's Falls do weddings at their lovely Chapel overlooking Lake Superior?....All would be very romantic!!
