Good morning everyone!

Good morning!

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 07:12 am:

Good morning. Heading out to Lake Michigan to do some jet skiing, for what may be the last time of the season. Where has the summer gone? Three more days until my truck tires cross over the Michigan border :)

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 08:24 am:

Sur5er,

Glad you'll soon be back on home turf. I'm in
the acute missing it stage right now, but will
be lugging stuff to the UP for my daughter's
new little rental house on the Labor Day
weekend. She's never spent a winter in the
UP (and I haven't either since I was a wee
one), so I hope she won't be too cold and
lonely. Heaven knows we miss her. It's a
brave move and one she's always wanted to
make.

Good morning from Mishawaka IN. Beautiful day today. Sun's out and the sky is clear. 70°. Have fun today Sur5er and be safe.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 08:57 am:

Kosk,
That is so great that your daughter is going to be spending her first winter in the UP. Please ask her to journalize it for us on a webpage...because I know that I most definately would love to hear about her adventures. Wow, is that amazing or what? And like you say, definately brave of her.

NKR, Will definately have fun on the water...and will be safe. Hubby gets tired of me being the 'safety police' all the time.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 09:10 am:

Sur5er's first (and last )attempt at rooster tailing on the jet ski.

First of all, the difficult task my hubby had was getting me to speed faster than 10mph on the jet ski. Cuz, I am not one of those 'need for speed' freaks on the jet ski.

"Just pretend you are in your squad car and are chasing a car," hubby told me. Sure enough it worked. I got the jet ski up to 15 mph...then 20...and eventually 45 mph.

"Now," hubby told me, "you turn the jet ski sharply to one side, and then back the other way, really fast...causing the back end to swing around and the water to spray out. The faster you are going, and the sharper your turn...the larger the rooster tail."

Well hotrod me, decided I wanted to make quite a splash. I went into that rooster tail, doing about 50mph. Needless to say, I flew off the jet ski...hubby said I zigged when I should have zagged. I hit the water with such force, that I had a bruise on my thigh for weeks to come. I won't even mention what my bathing suit top did.

Thus ended my career as a speedy jet skiier.

Just looking at 'golden Superior' & didn't realize it was 2 years old!! I was reminising about the last time I drove the 'seney strech' - at 80 MPH, convertable top down, very calming, no other cars

Yo, Yoop: quite a resemblance to the real thing.

34 more days until our wedding in the Keweenaw!

By Grace M Wetton (Gmw) on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 05:24 pm:

JULWISC-Best wishes for a wonderful wedding. Daughter Carrie and fiance were married yesterday. Beautiful wedding, mom did shed a few
tears but now has a great son-in-law. Have a great day of what's left of it.

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 06:06 pm:

Just an observation: I think 'It's Me Yooper' is Mary Drew. What do you think?

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 06:15 pm:

Beverly, Nope...Yooper isn't Mary...or Mary isn't Yooper...which ever way you wanna look at it. Try again. ;)

Having UP withdrawal all ready! Returned this past Wednesday from Wyoming after dropping the son off at U of Wyoming for grad school. Sadly since Tech dropped the mining program he had to go else where for his Masters. We weren't even across the Wisconsin border when he said "Mom, I'll be back here. EVERYONE comes back to Michigan. It has so much to offer." Until then I will visit the UP via this sight. Thank you for making that possible.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 10:15 pm:

Dear Sur5er,

The idea about the web site is a good one, but
my daughter is not much given to writing.
However, I will broach the topic when she next
e-mails (is this a verb??) me.

Living on a minimum wage with gas prices
the way they are should be a challenge. Hope
she can make it work.

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 11:21 pm:

Hi Renee, do you have inside information?

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Monday, August 29, 2005 - 12:03 am:

Kosk,
Sounds like you did a wonderful job raising your daughter...for her to be so independent and determined to make a go of it on her own in da UP. Sounds like she will be doing a lot of 'creative budgeting' on minimum wage, eh.
Let her know that there are all types of blogs that are free of charge...and thus, right within her budget. :)

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Monday, August 29, 2005 - 12:10 am:

Beverly,

This is what Detective Mary and Detective Renee, (think Keystone Cops), have figured out thus far.
A)I know that Mary isn't Yooper.
B)And Mary knows that I'm not Yooper.

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Monday, August 29, 2005 - 02:20 am:

Renee,
OK, so the game begins. :)
Who is Yooper?

By Danbury (Danbury) on Monday, August 29, 2005 - 02:43 am:

A Teen with a broken bone some time ago?
I remember that there was once clarification as to wether it was him or her, but don't ask me when.

Besides, your own profiles, despite being more exhaustive than Yooper's, are not all that detailed. :) So who're you? :)) AH FRAIDY CAT?!?
:)))

But then, on a sidenote, while I like the idea of online profiles, where'd the fun of guessing go if we all put everything online?

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Monday, August 29, 2005 - 07:40 am:

SUR5er,

What a nice thing to say. I will pass on the info
and see how it goes.

Hi Ho Hi Ho It's back to work I go. Not for real,
but time to get the classroom in shape before
the return of the students.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Monday, August 29, 2005 - 08:36 am:

Kosk,

Welcome ;) Oh...another idea...your daughter could be correspondence for your class via email or a blog, about life in da UP. What grade do you teach?

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Monday, August 29, 2005 - 02:12 pm:

Sur5er,

Great idea! I teach at a children's mental
health facility. This year my students are all
fourth and fifth grade boys!

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Monday, August 29, 2005 - 03:22 pm:

Danbury;
Me, a Fraidy cat, NEVER! :))) ;D
As far as who I am, I am ME...always was ME, am ME, and will always be ME. :D
Always leave a little to the imagination...makes the puzzle more interesting that way.
