Have a great trip Joanne.

By sur5er on Saturday, June 11, 2005 - 10:04 am:

Joanne from Harrison, If you have the extra time, try taking route 58, west through Pictured Rocks to route 28/41 to Keweenaw. 123 in Newberry to 37 north, to 58 west in Deer Park. One of the officers I worked with suggested the route one time, and whenever I have the extra time, I try to take advantage of this beautiful route.

Joanne, I just sent you a e-mail. We might be related.

By Sue, Calumet on Saturday, June 11, 2005 - 11:41 am:

Joanne, once you get to Hancock, take M203 to Calumet--the canal road. Watch out for deer.

By joanne,mi on Saturday, June 11, 2005 - 01:13 pm:

cindy we are related!!!!!hope we can get together when i'm there. just sent you a email.

joanne,mi -

since M-28 is under major construction, i would add, if you were going to take sur5er's suggested route, that you go up I75 to 28, take 28 west to 221 north to Brimley, and then take the lake shore drive passed Point Iroquois lighthouse and the many parks & turnouts along Lake Superior. you end up coming to 123 south of Paradise. have a great time no matter what route you take! i'm sooooo jealous!!!

By joanne,mi on Saturday, June 11, 2005 - 02:01 pm:

we leave in less than 24 hours.YIPEE

joanne,mi -

i should warn you that US2 is under construction too! hey, this IS Michigan after all!!!

By sur5er on Saturday, June 11, 2005 - 03:59 pm:

Julie b: Michigan's motto: Construction Ahead. ;-)

Joanne, have a safe trip. I must admit, that I am jealous that I am not headed to the UP too. Sigh.

By Fran.Ga on Saturday, June 11, 2005 - 04:52 pm:

Don't we all wish we were headed to the UP? We could have a Pasty Cam get together. I sure hope you all have a great time!!

By k on Saturday, June 11, 2005 - 06:17 pm:

I just love the people that are afraid of construction zones in the UP. They'll drive out of their way adding an extra 1 to 1 1/2 hours to their trip rather than sit and be patient in a construction zone for 15-20 minutes TOPS !!!
But, if that floats your boat, enjoy the scenery.

downstate don, Hope your trip north was a good one. I don't tune in to Pasty Cam as often as I used to. You can guess why, I bet!

It's been a bit rainy for the last couple of days, however, it cleared up this morning for us. Hot and humid today. Take care.

Hello Yoopers!

I'm a wannabe yooper from Minnesota and would appreciate knowing the website address for road construction detours in the Keweenaw this summer. I want to get there A.S.A.P.!!!!
Thanks for all the tips!

Suzy/MN, Here's the link to the Michigan Department of Transportation for road repairs in the UP...simply click on the orange circles on the map and you will be redirected to a site which gives the specifics of the type of road repairs being done in that area.

By sur5er on Sunday, June 12, 2005 - 11:16 am:

Fran, A Pasty Cam get together in the UP would be great. I was supposed to get together with high school buds and do the Mackinac Bridge walk this Labor Day...and was really looking forward to the get together in the UP. But then there is that thing called work...and boy am I swamped this year. Usually I am on the road and back and forth from the UP from May through September....so this is the first summer in a long time, that I will be teathered to the computer. Sigh.

Yesterday, hubby was sitting outside and said, "You know, that pine tree in the neighbor's yard, reminds me of the UP." A little later, he commented about the sunset, "You know, it sorta reminds me of the UP...except this is Lake Michigan and not Lake Superior". Alright already...I get the hint....hubby is ready for a road trip to the UP ;)
