The bridge is part way up! When did that happen? I first noticed it last night.

By R. Ollila Westland, MI on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 09:48 am:

Morning All. Thanks to whoever is responsible for getting the Lift Bridge Cam back on line. My visits to Pasty.Net were not complete without the updated pictures from my home town.

The snow is going fast, the deer are eating the green grass along side of the road, the geese are yakking overhead, the arbutus are budding and the bikers are out on the Gay-LacLaBelle Road. Spring is here!! A reminder to not litter the roadside with those water bottles which are not redeemable. (Too bad). Yes, and Brunette Park has had some major picnicers.

Foghorn, Lil Betsy, MI - You are making me crazy wishing I was there. If you have any pictures please put them on Pasty.com if you can. I am really homesick. We will be up in July!! Can't wait.

By Hancock, MI on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 10:47 am:

The Alder (Coast Guard) docked near the bridge overnight. Guess that could be why the bridge is up. Must be doing spring buoy tending chores.

By FRNash/PHX, AZ on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 01:22 pm:

ert, GA
says "The bridge is part way up!

Even better - the bridge is all the way up at 1:00PM - and nary a ship or even a boat in sight. Maybe the bridge is just awakening and stretching after a long winter's sleep?

By FRNash/PHX, AZ on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 01:25 pm:

Well the bridge was up all the way:

Bridge up!

By RCW on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 01:56 pm:

The Alder went under the bridge heading east around 10:00 am.

By FRNash/PHX, AZ on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 02:08 pm:

RCW:
"The Alder went under the bridge heading east around 10:00 am."

And the bridge was still all the way up at 1:00PM? Musta been some very patient drivers waiting to cross!

By pld on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 03:20 pm:

Sitting at my desk in Hancock with the window open a crack, I heard horns sound from boats at two different times today. But, alas, wasn't able to see anything. I must get to the window faster! So I think the bridge must have went up twice today. Better not be doing that at 4PM!

By RCW on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 03:39 pm:

Well it posibly came back later and headed West. As you can see at present its in the secondary positon so smaller boats can pass under.

Sur5er...left you a message on yesterday's What's UP...don't know if you backtrack or not, but it's ref your daughter the deputy! :) If she comes to work with us is her mom going to come for a visit?

By copper country resident on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 06:48 pm:

RCW- I find it hard to believe that the bridge would stay all the way up for 3 hours! Come on now, that's a little ridiculous, wouldn't you say???

By RCW on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 07:14 pm:

Gee CC resident you should be aware in the secondary position Auto traffic flows on the lower level of the lift span.

By sur5er on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 08:30 pm:

Thanks Susan :) Seems a certain department did a lot of hiring to collect grant money, and now they are now telling all the new hirees to be prepared to be let go here shortly. So they are undecided about staying in Florida...or heading back to Indiana or Michigan.
Tried talking daughter's fiance into applying with the Michigan State Police...that way they can try to get relocated to the Calumet Post :)
Called and gave my daughter the phone numbers to your department and she said, "tell Susan we said thank you, and for getting back with us so soon." :)
