Lake Linden is considered small, as towns go, but there certainly is a diverse group of folks living here and quite the array of small businesses too. Carl Kiilunen can always be counted on to document the goings on with Kodak in hand. So, when perusing the Guest Galleries, it was no surprise to find shots of Mike Mukavetz hard at work preparing lumber in his own sawmill, which he calls, Frog Valley Woods. Mike's love of working with wood goes back a number of years, since he was an Industrial Arts teacher up until a few years ago, when he retired. Now he carries on an age old profession of sawing logs into workable pieces of lumber with which we build our homes and furniture. Nice way to add a personal touch to any project, having your own logs sawed into just the right size piece of wood to complete it!

Good human interest shot Carl! If Mike Mukavitz reads this little tome, I remember when you were sawing logs out at Rice Lake, more years ago then either one of us probably wants to remember!
My sons and I bought a lot of bait out of your "oar house" and boat dock over the years. Lots of fond memories at the end of Rice Lake Road. Will try to post some pictures from my shoe box if I can figure out how to convert 35mm slides to the computer.

I love the look of Mike's building/workplace when I'm driving thru Lake Linden. It has incredible character - I love the rustic look to it.

Nice to see someone name their buisness with no regard for the political correctness so rampant
these days.

I keep telling my sisters we all need to head back home. Haven't been there since a wedding back in late 80's so we're due for sure, IF we can find a nice camping spot at McClains, my favorite park.

You're right about the dang trains...I get stuck at 9 and Hilton in the mornings and back from work then again at 9 mile and Mound on my way to work...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
