Thanks Charlie, I posted at 8 but live with very
slow internet, rural, takes a long while to get
things to happen

I love Doug's "Fallen Leaves". It's just so simple, but at the same time, so beautiful!! And we saw some bright colors like Roger's by the Montreal, also.

Only one snowy October day on this particular day. I remember when we were there 2 years ago, it snowed. We were going to go to the Lake Linden football game, but got snowed out, lol. So we "watched" it on radio, lol.

Have a wonderful day!!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 08:31 am:

Good Morning - Nice pictures today. Mary's snowy October day picture was a real awakening, though, for those of us who are not looking forward to winter. I especially like the picture of the Montreal River bridge; what a beautiful rock bridge!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 08:38 am:

Good Morning from Houghton, Michigan!! Yes, we're in the Keweenaw again. J

Don't worry Deb, they are talking snow here next week. At first, some of the forecasts had snow/ice for tonight and tomorrow, but it looks like it will stay just warm enough to be a cold, windy rain.

We saw some colour on our way up from northern Wisconsin, but it is well beyond peak and by tomorrow night I'm sure the leaves will be gone with the 50+ mph winds forecasted. Also tomorrow night is the Tech hockey game we have tickets for; haven't been to one of those in 7 years....

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 08:40 am:

Capt...northern Wi. as in Superior, and Iron River?

By Donna (Donna) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 08:40 am:

LOVE Dan's mirror lake.

By sometimesyooper (Nancyd) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 09:26 am:

I just want to sit on the bench and crunch the leaves in "Fallen Leaves". I got to enjoy the colors in Michigan (not to mention the gale of Thursday, Sept 29th) and the golden aspen display here in Colorado. Our aspens are about to wrap things up, color wise, and await our long nap also.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 09:27 am:

Today my mother Catherine Stanton Du Long would have been one hundred years old. Still miss her. My brother, the smartest man in the world, called me a mama's boy. Proud to have been one. Seems all my grandsons are mama's boys also.

Been connecting to pasty.com for a good 7 years...lots of fabulous photos ...but my superior favorite one is the canoe in the moonlight! There's just something magic about the scene and the genius who caught it for our pleasure.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 12:39 pm:

Northern Wisconsin as in between Antigo and Long Lake and into Iron River, MI.

We're currrently enjoying a bowl of french onion soup at Mariner North and driving along the lakeshore there is still spotty colour but well beyond peak. Still, it is very nice being in the Keweenaw this time of year, if only for a couple days.....

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 01:06 pm:

I envy you, Capt. Paul! Hope y'all get back down south before the s--- flies! Just don't wanna say the 's' word right now....am really dreading it this year! :( Our trees changed suddenly and are now dropping their leaves fast!

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 02:42 pm:

Wow! More great photos, especially the Autumn ones!

By Cheryl Rozman (Cotton) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 02:59 pm:

Dan U may be gone in body but he sure is alive in his beautiful, amazing photos that we all can view from time to time. He sure knew how to capture the beauty of nature.

By Cheryl Rozman (Cotton) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 03:04 pm:

Just mentioning about nature in my last post got me to thinking, I guess many of you know what I always say when I hear about the terrific wind blowing this time of year. I pray that all of the boats are off of the lake when it starts churning from the wind. Just felt like sharing that with you.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 04:32 pm:

Cheryl, I'm glad you shared your thoughts with us. And I agree with your thoughts.

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 04:33 pm:

I'll never forget Dan either.

Finally got the wood stove going. Getting a slow, lazy rain. Temps in the 50s in Ondanoggin but, there's a chill in the air. Got the pumpkins displayed, was putting it off because I didn't want to admit that summer was over. :) We're now ready for winter, got the snowshoes out of storage and the snowblower and John Deere are ready.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 06:58 pm:

Been thinking of your dad lately Cheryl. Going to enjoy what is left of the colors this weekend.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 07:11 pm:

Janie, we went through Iron River, Poplar, Maple, Brule, Wentworth, & Superior. We always take that route. Thinking next time maybe not, though. The road construction in Duluth was a killer. We were late getting home by about an hour. What a pain. So, we're thinking of finding a way through WI next time. We've gone through Eagle River WI before, but that added a lot of time to our drive too. It's nice if you don't have to work the next day, but we never seem to have that luxury.

Capt, seems we were there at exactly the right time. We saw people in swimsuits. You'll maybe see them in Parka's and Stormy Kromer's, lol!!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 07:56 pm:

Deb, yes the Duluth construction was a nightmare when Bob and my brothers did their motorcycle Lake Superior ride! Poor Bob, when they went through Duluth and the horrid construction, it was Bob's turn to drive the truck pulling a 29 ft. camper that they used instead of hotels. It was he!!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 - 08:36 pm:

I don't believe parkas will be in order Deb as it won't be that cold. I guess all those years of living on the Keweenaw toughned me up for cold and snow as I can't stand the heat/humidity of SE Texas.

Actually, the colours today were still very nice along the lakeshore and spotty (but past peak) along 41 out of Copper Harbor. I fear though with the rain and increasing wind here tonight that the leaves will be gone by the end of the weekend.

Oh, and Deb; I know of a way between the Twin Cities and the Keweenaw across Wisconsin that you and Mr. Deb might find pleasing to drive. Shoot me an email and I'll give you the details....
