During the heat wave we experienced last week, many folks headed to the shores of Lake Superior to cool off, including Chris Gariepy and his family. They decided on Bete Grise, where Chris said it was hot, but not too busy. Of course the coolest part of the day there, wasn't the temps, but the fog that all of a sudden rolled in, within 10-15 minutes. The temperature didn't drop dramatically, but did go down some with the fog parked over the beach. Meanwhile, the Gariepy boys were enjoying the day, with refreshing drinks and plenty of water toys to help them cool down. It doesn't get much better than a day on the shores of Lake Superior, when the temperatures are soaring

I can relate to the fog moving in. It happens all of a sudden. Reminds me of a song by Van Morrison;
We were born before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic
Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic
And when that fog horn blows I will be coming home
And when that fog horn blows I want to hear it
I don't have to fear it
I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
Then magnificently we will float into the mystic
And when that fog horn blows you know I will be coming home
And when thst fog horn whistle blows I got to hear it
I don't have to fear it
I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And together we will float into the mystic

I don't know about anyone else, but we did Bete Grise on a July Fourth years ago and the water was still a very quick chill. One step in, ankle deep, and back out. Ice water on the Fourth of July!!
