Last month we put out the call to send your favorite "Then" and "Now" shots of your Dad for a special Father's Day Cameo this month. Jumping back and forth through time, our weekday editor Mary Drew shares some delightful memories of her own father, and growing up in the U.P. Perhaps later today Mary can put some names with all of these smiling faces.

Before another busy work-week begins, take some time this afternoon to dig out the old photo album or shoebox, and find some memories of your Dad. Email them (charlie@pasty.net) to include in the tribute we're putting together for June 19th.

Have a good week :o)

OH MY GOODNESS, WHAT GREAT FUN LOVING PHOTOS. Mary you were a lucky lady to have such grand folks and for these special times to be documented. Some of us do not even have photos of growing up. Thanks for sharing these with all us pasty camers! I do however have a military photo that I may send in of my father.

Hi Folks...sorry I didn't get on here until late like this, but we were traveling from a niece's wedding.

The names for the photos are as follows:
Top photo - left to right: My brother, Dennis Pini (partially hidden), myself and my Dad, Peter Pini. Taken in about 1960.
2nd photo - left to right: My Mom, CeCe Pini, me, and Dad again. This was taken in 1991
3rd photo: My brothers, Mike, Dennis and Ken, my Dad, Peter and me. Taken in 1956
4th photo: My Dad and myself, along with my sons, Greg and Alan. Taken in 1983

It was sure fun looking through all the old photos for this project. Take some time and go through yours, then scan and send them in for the Father's Day Cameo...you'll smile at all the old memories for sure. :-)

Brings me back to my childhood for sure. There was always a lot of singing going on when we went to our grandparent's houses, or took them on trips. My grandpa N. played a concertina and we used to sing along to things like "Daisy" and "Goodnight, Irene". He especially liked the latter because it was my grandma's name. I still have that concertina and I treasure it for sure.

Great pictures, Mary!! Wish I'd had time to get on here yesterday:(

My grandpa played the ucalaley, I am well aware I messed up the spelling, a lot when we were kids. He sang songs, too, what my mom called, 'little diddies'. For some reason that is what she called them.

I remember my mom and her dad, my grandpa, always singing around the house. It still puts a smile on my face when I think about it.;O)

I think that is where I truly got my love of different music, was from the two of them. I just DO NOT like that rap or hip hop stuff though.;O(

Mary, in the "Young Bunch" photo...looks like your Dad is getting ready to load the Cap Guns with caps. We used to take those rolls of caps out on the sidewalk and hit em with a hammer..LOL!

By Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Monday, June 6, 2011 - 11:15 pm:

I bet you're right Tim Larsen (Starrnote). Thanks, I was kind of wondering what he was doing. I remember hitting those caps with a rock to make them blast, too. :-)
