Chris Gariepy and family were out on the nature trail they have on their property, exploring recently. The kids had fun checking out their Uncle's deer blind in the woods, along with rustling up the leaves underfoot and even stopping for a photo op amongst the fallen foliage. You can tell by the smiles on their faces that they were having a great time with Mom and Dad, but little did they know there was some learning going on, too. The boys discovered what an oak leaf was and not just any oak leaf, either...those two big ones are about one foot long according to the Scout ruler in the picture with them. That's HUGE compared to the normal size one in between the two. I'm sure finding monster sized leaves will make the memory of this day spent in the woods stick with them for a number of years. Fun times!

After raking leaves yesterday afternoon popped a couple of Pasty Central pasties in the oven. Great meal as always and how convenient is that......

When I first looked at the top photo, I thought it was the proverbial "Two-Holer"!! J

Nice photos today....

Top picture reminds me of the Finnish "buildings" they use(d) to store meat out of the reach of the bears and their buddies.

Beautiful 'fally' pictures this morning! Love the little boy smiles! Ray, I don't believe the bears/etc. would have a problem getting up those steps....matter of fact, if they're hungry enough, they'd probably pull the whole house down. ;)

By Ray Laakaniemi (Rlaakan) on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 - 09:48 am:

Shirlohio, you remove the steps once you load the storage area.

Me too: An outhouse on stilts? A "skyscrapper"?
Two minds in the same gutter, eh? <grin>

Get those kids in that tower and give'm a high powered rifle, It's Deer season! just kidding, make them take the safety course first, lol! Us boys will be U.P. this weekend, can't wait!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 - 04:00 pm:

UC...how about a high-powered rifle AND a commode? Dropping a 12 pointer would never be the same. I would be saying: "Don't wake me up, cause I'm dreamin”. :)

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 - 04:19 pm:

Ray, gotcha. But if bears can climb trees what's to stop 'em from climbing those poles? ;D

Good pics. The Oak leaf is 1 of my favorite leaves.
