The Keweenaw doesn't get much more colorful than this and thanks to Joe Kirkish, we all get to enjoy the bursts of color in the foliage here, long after the last leaf has fallen to the ground. I'm hearing that it's peak or just past-peak with the changing leaves UP North here, but whatever you call it, our surroundings look like someone took out a paintbrush and went to work coloring the Copper Country. If you haven't already had a chance to go for a color tour, you'd better hurry, because the show won't last forever.

Good Morning. Those brilliant reds and oranges are my favorites. Thank you, Joe K & Mary! (My oldest & youngest sons think it is a little bit past peak up there now.)

WOW...it is beyond beautiful U.P. here right now!

Excellent!

Those of us who are lucky enough to live in the midwest should never take for granted this beautiful time of our year. Give me this and the rotating seasons any time over the year round warmth of those other places. Makes us tough plus appreciative hey? Enjoy.

Looks like God has been busy with His paintbrush UP there! Beautiful! Sadly, it looks like He's going to bypass southern Ohio this year.:(

Beautiful pictures! Brings back memories of time I've been in the
U.P. for fall color. I just posted a poem about the trees in the U.P.

A "nip" in the air in Southwest Florida this morning as the temp dipped to 65! Love seeing the fall colors but don't miss what follows.

Beautiful!!!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, October 4, 2010 - 03:10 pm:

We just got back from a ride up to Copper Harbor, up to Brockway Mountain, then took Cliff Drive on the way home. It is still beautiful as far as I am concerned.

By Yooperguide (Huntandfish) on Monday, October 4, 2010 - 04:49 pm:

mickill mouse, yes, it is beautiful but not prime. The year 2008 was the best. Copper Harbor turns later then the rest of us. Not cold enough UP there. The leaves love a hard frost and lots of sun.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, October 4, 2010 - 05:54 pm:

Oh Yeah, we also stopped by the Delaware Mine to say Hi and see Oreo. The other Oreo passed away this spring and he, the man inside not Oreo, had two (2) more little ones in there. The one was, I believe, (5) months old and the other one was a little older. Of course they were just wondering around behind the counter as Oreo did.

The little tiny one was cute and wanted to be picked up and held but, he was directed to his crate and the two went in for a nap.

Good to be home here in the Yoop to see the color live for myself. However the pic's are beautiful. Just moved into my place here in Lake Linden.

By Wes Scott (Travelnorth) on Monday, October 4, 2010 - 08:04 pm:

Oreo is the skunk right?? He died??
NO!!! Say it isn't so!! He was a legend.

By Danielle L. Adams (Badkid) on Monday, October 4, 2010 - 08:50 pm:

Wow these colors are awesome. Here in the Houghton area most of the leaves are past peak. My yard is full of leaves, anyone care to rake em up lol Spekaing of raking...we used to rake the leaves when we were younger and jump into leaf piles...thought it was so much fun!!!

We went to LacLaBelle yesterday, and took the chair lift to the top of Mt. Bohemia ... what a gorgeous view(s), and the weather was perfect. They said at the top that this weekend had the largest crowd ever, and one more weekend yet to go, weather permitting (winds). Hopefully I'll get to some of the pictures tonight.

By Norm Sandin (Ponosandin) on Monday, October 4, 2010 - 10:29 pm:

Hi pasty.net!
Thanks for posting the color pics! I love Hawaii where I live now, but I sure miss the fall colors of the UP. I grew up in Anvil Location (Bessemer).
Aloha, Pono

By Wes Scott (Travelnorth) on Monday, October 4, 2010 - 10:58 pm:

Wow I'm jealous! I'm going to LacLaBelle up the chair lift next year for sure. Mt. Bohemia view
is wonderful in pictures I've seen. I was in Copper harbor two weeks ago and would have loved
to stay for fall peak. NEXT YEAR!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, October 4, 2010 - 11:15 pm:

I can not go up that high on the lift to see the colors. I start to panic that high up.

Welcome to the neighborhood, David.

As for Oreo, he passed away at (6) yrs old.;O( The two he has now sure are cute.;O) I took a couple of pictures of them but, I never learned how to e-mail pictures or put them out here for people to see the new critters of Delaware.
