Happy Labor Day From Wells.

By Norma in Midland (Normainmidland) on Monday, September 6, 2010 - 08:26 am:

I don't see any creatures flying. Charlie is this a trick question? I see creatures, but none in flight.... Happy Labor Day!

Have a great Labor Day..from rural Palo,Ia

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, September 6, 2010 - 09:52 am:

I believe Norma has the right idea; technically none of the creatures in any year are flying, they are all attached to something. Tricky tricky.......

Happy Labour Day, or in this house, today is "do-nothing" day!! J

I read that a sail boat capsized in Grand Traverse Bay in the Keweenaw, where is Grand Traverse Bay in the Keweenaw.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, September 6, 2010 - 10:18 am:

Good Morning! I agree that sounds like a tricky question! Zube, I didn't hear about a sail boat overturned in Grand Traverse Bay in the Keweenaw, but I thought I heard about one near Marquette. So maybe a couple of them went over this weekend? It has been really windy, both in the UP and the LP, that's for sure!

I heard that there may have been a wind gust of 80 to 100 mph in the Keweenaw on Friday, I believe. I hope everyone who lost their power has it restored by now! It sounds like Houghton and all have had enough rain for a little while, anyway.

By Daveofmohawk (Daveofmohawk) on Monday, September 6, 2010 - 11:54 am:

A sailboat with 3 people aboard did capsize off of Traverse which is located on the east side of the peninsula south of Gay. I've never heard of it referred to as Grand Traverse Bay only Big Traverse or Little Traverse. The boat was obviously close to shore because one of the 3 made it to shore and called for help and the other two were rescued.

Just got a cell phone call a few minutes ago from oldest daughter Alice. She is between the 2 towers of the Mackinac Bridge---walking across ! ! How cool ! Experience of a lifetime !
The weather is perfect she says, temps in the 60s!

Correct! And Grand Traverse Bay is located near the northwest tip of the mitt, with Traverse City located at the south end of the bay.

It sure was a good storm, but I'm glad to have my power back, as well as my land line telephones. I think everybody has their utilities back now.

You've already helped us move up 10 places in the rankings. Thanks so much!
Syd, who is coordinating this effort, has promised everyone a tour of the new barn when we get it, although she is hoping NOT to give anybody a ride in the ambulance!

All great pictures, 2 day. In reference 2 the 1 of the 2003 Mackinac Bridge Walk, I completed my 2nd 1 this morning. Everyone have a nice Labor Day, and a nice Labour Day 2 our great neighbour to the North, the Dominion of Canada.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, September 6, 2010 - 05:31 pm:

I see 2003, 2005, 2006 & 2008!! Did we ever find out who was right? I don't see an early bird sticker anywhere.

Anyway, awesome pictures today. I especially like the campfire, the boats, the lighthouse and of course, Mary & Jim are the best!!!!!

Time to go back to work tomorrow. Oh goody!!

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 - 05:00 am:

Perhaps all that wind has kept Charlie much too busy with repairs to post a bird~
First Post
Right you are, jbuck, as we spent some time with the birds up on Brockway Mountain Monday.
