In which 2 years can you see a black dog on a trail in the woods?

Good morning! What a great week it is. It's thinking of heading on up to 60 degrees today. Loving that, for sure.

Love the pictures. I especially love the last one.

Have a great day, everybody!

The 2000 pic is Burt, John Dee's black lab. Baileys, John's yellow lab, must be close by. Both labs made famous on John's site have saddly passed on. Huck and Millie are the new black and yellow labs family members.

If you look close at the 2000 picture, you can see the yellow lab off the right side of the trail.

It sure looks like Jon Hopper captured a "Great Sand Shark" in that first picture (1999, "On Superior's shores") with the head projecting out of the sand on the left, the eye just visible above the sand and the jaws inclined slightly to the left of the vertical. 'Tis apparently a severely arched body, with the tail (caudal fin) projecting out of the sand on the right!

Quite the fierce creature to be found in the sands of Great Sand Bay!

The Autumn and Lake Superior pictures are especially wonderful.

By Tom (Tom) on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 05:08 pm:

Hmm, what have you been drinking FRNash?
Shark????? I am trying hard to see all that you did in that picture. My imagination must have gone south!!!

Tom (Tom):
"what have you been drinking FRNash?"

Hmmm, maybe it was my "near death" experience (cardiac arrest) back in August.

It is a bit goofy looking, I'll admit, but hey, it's a "sand shark"! (Wasn't that a recurring "critter" on the early "Saturday Night Live" series?)

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 06:44 pm:

Looks more like a baby whale. Long snout, slightly opened and the tale sticking up out of the sand....

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 06:59 pm:

Oh Yeah. Bill and I took our early Sunday ride around downtown Detroit to the waterfront and one street we wanted to turn on to, we were stopped. We were told the History Channel was filming something about Detroit. When it was over we were told to make our turn and we saw people standing around an opened manhole cover. As we drove by I rolled my window down and asked did they find Jimmy Hoffa or did they get a tip of some kind? They just laughed.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 07:37 pm:

It was a Land Shark on Saturday Night Live. We gave that name to my cousin's wife.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 10:38 pm:

It was the Land Shark on SNL that would ring the doorbell and shout "Candy Gram" so the unsuspecting victim on the other side would open the door and get eaten.
