Marquette Harbor Lighthouse is colorful on its own, but with Autumn around it, the colors are almost rainbow like. In these photos taken by Jeff Massie, you can see what a few colorful leaves can do to colorize a scene. The leaves start dropping fast this time of year, so its nice to have photos such as these to be able to hold on to them a little longer!

Ya just gotta love Marquette lighthouse! Though, Eagle Harbor will probably always be my favorite!!

I wish I can submit a picture of a little lighthouse in the middle of a pond completely surrounded by fall colors, BUT! I did not take the picture in the U.P. ;O( It was at a park in Detroit I use to play at as a kid. It was at Palmer Park.

Love the pictures.

Mickell...I grew up near Palmer Park and remember the lighthouse and the pond and also the historic cabin that used to be open for display. Palmer Park was a great place as a kid growing up.

Ups, sorry...Mickill.

LOTS of memories going to Palmer Park as a kid. I went back there a couple weeks ago to take some pictures, of course a lot of changes.

Beautiful autumn pictures capturing the Marquette Lighthouse today! Over at JohnDee.com he has his idea on the UP-coming winter outlook. Glad we bought a new ATV instead of snowmobiles this year. This year may hurt a lot of business' UP north that depend on us snow lovers.

Remember the horse and buggys at Palmer Park?

By Uncle Chuck at Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 11:54 am:

The ol Marquette Lighthouse-Beautiful. Used to live behind the lighthouse in an apartment above a taxi cab co. back in my college days at NMU. It was pretty cool being able to walk across the street and be right on the beach. Those were the days, great memories!

I do not remember the horse and buggys at Palmer Park, but, I remember the horse and buggy rides at Belle Isle.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 02:46 pm:

Yes, I do remember the horse and buggy rides. My mother took my sister and me when I was about 5 years old. And, if memory serves my right (and I can't believe it still does), I believe the buggy was red. I also remember the pavilion in the wintertime. After ice-skating you could buy hot chocolate that was so freaking hot, it would scald your mouth for a week.
I found a picture of the old lighthouse.

After much deliberation after losing my job/position I have decided to move from Florida back to the Soo where I will help my Sister Carol raise her granddaughter lil Paris. This may take a few months as I have to sell most of my furniture and belongings and start my unemployment compensation. If I am going to be unemployed I may as well do it where I can be of some help and be where I love.

Good combination: a lighthouse + colorful Autumn leaves. Alex: Thanks 4 sharing the old lighthouse postcard. Looks like there's a little bit of Autumn color there, 2.

Whew! is it grand to be back online after a good 3 weeks gone. Moved and just got 'puter service and a land phone. Been both exciting and stressful! Better believe I've missed pasty friends and the marvelouse photos. All the more incentive for a trip UP there next autumn if not sooner. Hope I never have to move again for another 45 years...ha-ha!

By Uncle Chuck at Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 04:09 pm:

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 04:59 pm:

Yes Kay, it can be stressful, but just remember that moving targets are hard to hit :)

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 06:28 pm:

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 09:21 pm:

Janie et all, I'm inland from the river 10 miles. So I'll still shop, visit friends and be involved with the art scene in Savanna. Mt. Carroll is a lovely town with many historic places. Plus it's the county seat. I'm in a senior apt. complex in a nice place of my own. Sure will miss the motorcycle and river traffic and the frequent trains tho. Now I have a cat companion too!

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 09:26 pm:

Uncle Chuck, don't I wish! Even considered Marquette area at one point. Have cousins there. But UP would be just a bit more than I think I could do at this stage of my life.
