In my opinion, there are no tastier strawberries than the ones in the
Copper Country. Anyone else agree?

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 - 06:37 pm:

Those are definitely the BEST looking strawberries I have seen!

I like strawberries no matter where they come from. But I remember picking berries out at Bekkala's when I was younger. Many more went in my belly than went in my carton, lol.

We used to pick strawberries at Hulkonen's in Nisula.

You are right about Michigan/CC strawberries--the best. Not like those giant, pulpy monsters from California. Nice to look at but not to eat. The strawberries from the Plant City area of Florida are darn good, too.

I used to pick strawberries at Tikkanen's farm between Lake Linden and Laurium. Helped plant them, too. We'd go swimming at the Incline Dam later. Good memories of good times.

I remember walking through the woods with my grandpa and he all of a sudden yelled at me to stop. He told me to look down and there were wild strawberries. I remember they were small and we picked quite a bit of them off the ground. Sure were good on cereal the next morning. ;O)
