Good morning everyone. 34 degrees and cloudy here in Houghton. Gotta get outside and start raking the yard. It wasn't done last fall.

Heading downtown Lansing for the Susan G Komen Cancer Walk today. I hope the rain holds off. Forecast says it will be in the 70s with a chance of rain...probably pretty muggy. We sure had a lot of rain yesterday; some was the sideways version. I think I saw someone building an ark.

I hope the rain holds off. Our Crop Walk is at 2:00 today.

I see that Marquette NWS has issued a Flood warning for the Traprock River:

Quote:

201 PM EDT SUN APR 26 2009

... FLOOD WARNING EXTENDED UNTIL TUESDAY AFTERNOON, THE FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES FOR
THE TRAP ROCK RIVER NEAR LAKE LINDEN
* UNTIL TUESDAY AFTERNOON, OR UNTIL THE WARNING IS CANCELLED.
* AT 1:15 PM SUNDAY THE STAGE WAS 6.3 FEET
* MINOR FLOODING IS FORECAST.
* FLOOD STAGE IS 8.5 FEET
* AT 8.5 FEET, WHICH IS FLOOD STAGE, LOW LYING SECTIONS OF CEMETERY ROAD AND SCHOOLHOUSE ROAD BEGIN TO FLOOD.

Help! I'm feeling a bit geographically challenged today. (I hate when that happens!) I can't seem to recall where Cemetery Road and Schoolhouse Road are that may be impacted by flooding along the Traprock River. Can someone refresh my memory?

I'm still working on my second kuppa kahvi (at 11AM MST), so maybe it hasn't kicked in yet.

Cemetery road is right after you turn toward Bootjack in LL. There is a buisness that sells boats and snowmobiles on the corner. I can't place Schoolhouse road either Frank.

Okay, maybe I see it now.

Some maps show Cemetery Road as an extension of Gregory Street north of town past the old drive-in movie, and on beyond Normand Road to the Calvary Cemetery, and to shortly past Gas Plant Road where Cemetery Road turns to the east and crosses the Traprock River(!) to connect with Traprock Valley Road (CR-641). A few other usually reliable maps just refer to the whole thing as Gregory Street. (?)

However, as you say, Mikie, Schoolhouse Road remains a mystery!
