Dan Urbanski left a legacy of beautiful photos on these pages over the years. Name the river, the plant, and the dam he showed us on this day in 2000 - 2002.

What a beautiful way to start this beautiful day!

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Saturday, April 18, 2009 - 08:17 am:

I'll agree with you on that, Cindy. Nice photos.

Wow, what a beautiful set of photos today. Most of them with a feeling of "winter's gone, but not quite!" :)

Supposedly it may snow throughout the Keweenaw today -- with any luck I'll be in the middle of the woods when it does. :)

See the UFO over Copper Harbor! Look at Sharon's 8:20 A.M. photo!

"See the UFO over Copper Harbor! Look at Sharon's 8:20 A.M. photo!"

Would that be the "old sailing ship" levitating above the lake near the Brockway's nose?

UFO ship

Well, the UFO in Sharon's 8:20 A.M. photo really looks like a bird in flight. Possibly a goose.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Saturday, April 18, 2009 - 01:00 pm:

Maybe it's the Copper Harbor Pirates. That seems to be a lucrative enterprise these days.

BISHOP BARAGA SHRINE IN MOVIE? I have tried for a couple years to find the name of the movie I saw on TV that was filmed at the Bishop Baraga Shrine. It was in the winter, a spy thriller, had helicopters, people shooting at each other, leaping off the cliff, and running out across the ice on the bay, ending up exploding a bomb in the bay. I can't find any references online, or at any sites describing the Bishop Baraga shrine. Can anybody help? I don't remember any of the actors, although it was a major studio release...Thanks!

The picture I posted was from Sharon's 8:20AM photo. But now that you mention it, that "old sailing ship" might well be a goose. If so, that's one big bird! — Oh no, not "Big Bird"? But it's not yellow!

That ships not levitating above the water; that's just where they ran aground during the last November Witch and now that the snow has melted, it is now visible.......

Hmmm, "Pirates of the Keweenaw, At Worlds End" has a nice ring to it. I'm all for it as long as Keira Knightly is in it as well!!! ;-)

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Saturday, April 18, 2009 - 06:48 pm:

I like the Keira Knightly idea and it doesn't even have to be a movie. I would watch a 5-hour home video of her pealing potatoes for pasties.
