Donna MacIntosh has scored a hat-trick this week on the Pasty Cam, with photos on Sunday, Tuesday and now today. The subject of her photographs today is somewhere that I've never explored, so I was surprised with the first photo today. I never knew there was a lighthouse like this on the shores of the Ojibwa Campground in Baraga, so if anyone can give us some more information about this light, please do.

Donna snapped these shots early Easter morning, which she said was quiet and peaceful. There was only herself, the fisherman in the second photo, another in a boat and a trio of eagles that took off as she arrived (plus a seagull or two). The only noises to be heard, was the occasional sound of a vehicle going by on U.S.41. You can tell by the frosty ground in the third shot, that it was also quite a chilly morning...still a great way to start any day.

That was such a beautiful morning....I love that time of day...it is peaceful, rejuvenating, and the sunrise was spectacular!! It's the moment that Mother Nature wakes up...the quiet turns to birds waking up and chattering, the sun peeking over the horizon and splashing everything with light....

When you go to the Pow Wow, there is a sign that says "You are now entering Sacred Ground". I think everywhere you go to experience Dark to Dawn is Sacred Ground. The entire experience is Sacred. What a Blessing to get to be in that moment and enjoy it!

How cool! I had no clue there was a light there either. What a great description, Mary... now I want to go camping (as I enjoy the peace of the morning... before heading in to teach!).

Donna, your pictures are relaxing to look at. Just what the Doctor ordered.

Is this Sand Point Lighthouse? This web site shows a similar structure in front of the actual lighthouse (second photo down on the left): http://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=230

This web site has a more descriptive history of Sand Point Lighthouse: http://www.terrypepper.com/lights/superior/sandpoint/sandpoint.htm

YES that's it...the Sandpoint Light.

I just love Lake Superior.
