Geez, some of those people are awfully daring! I can hardly go out there in full winter gear, let alone half naked. Wow!!

Another day of nursing the boy's broken leg.I never imagined how much work this would be.
Mom is a little stressed waiting for next appointment with bone specialist. Thanks everyone for all your prayers.
I spend most of the day on the couch with him yesterday coloring and watching movies. I forgot how much fun it is to color.

I hope your son does not read this. When my brothers and I were kids my second oldest brother ended up with a cast on his leg from the tip of his toe to his hip. After so many dr. appts. my brother decided HE had enough of that cast. One day my mom heard a funny noise coming from his room and went to take a look and he was taking that cast off with a chisel and a hammer. He was 15 or 16 yrs. old. Needless to say he had to go back to the drs. and have another one put on.

He hasn't threatened to take the cast off. He did beg me to give him the fireplace poker to scratch his leg with. We compromised on a drum stick.It works!!!!

I hear a straitened-out coat hanger works well too.

It is snowing here today in E. TN. and it looks so pretty on the tall pine trees out back. I am looking out of the Big Picture window at 3 of my Grand Kid's age 2 - 4 - 5 having fun playing in the snow. A sight for sore eyes that we around these parts don't get to see that often with an average of 9 inches a year. We just might see half of that today.

A turkey or chicken drumstick will take all the meat off the bone, while a wire coat hanger will also take all the meat off the bone. Try pouring some itch powder into the cast for him Joanne.

My brother ended up scratching inside his cast with a stick of some kind. All I remember is he tried to take the cast off.

Knitting needles work great!

At age 2 my granddaughter had to have surgery on her fingers. A cast was put on that completly covered her hand and went to her shoulder. In the middle of the night my son and daughter-in-law heard a loud thud. Getting up and going to Erika's room they found the cast on the floor. Next day it was back to the doctor and another cast. That night a thud was heard again. Sure enough she had that cast off. Back to the doctor and another cast---this time the doctor decided to pinch the cast in at the wrist. End of thuds in the night. They figure she just wiggled her arm until the cast slid off.

Joanne, hope your boy is up and out of the cast soon. This isn't the greatest time of the year to have a cast on your leg.

Husband is now trying to get drumstick out of cast because adam pushed it too far down.I'm headed to bed. This job is for Dad.I am taking Dave's idea and taking th drumstick away as soon as it is retrieved and sticking to itch powder.

Do you knit, Joanne? If so, you could knit a toe cover for your son's cast with wool. Or, if your son is small enough still, you could just get a big wool sock to fit over the cast.

On the one hand, it's not a good time to have your foot in a cast, with crutches on the ice & snow. On the other hand, it is probably a lot easier to figure out ways to keep the foot warm, then it would be to cool it off in the summer. :-) (It's kind of like I heard the Secret Service sniper team talking today: when it's cold like it is now, they think about thank goodness it's not hot like it is in August. Then, when it's hot in August, they think about how nice it is not to be freezing in the winter, when they are supposed to be watching from a building roof, using kind of the reverse psychology?

I'm thinking about you! Take care of your guy and yourself! Get some rest, especially now that his Dad is home to help out!

I would think itching powder would get moisture on it and start to smell without being able to clean it with soap and water.
