So, do you agree with him? Aren't you all tired of getting the bone and giving the meat to the rich? I am. What about us? I guess we don't count. I think the tea party needs to change their drink to "screw drivers".
Wonder why nobody cared about the national debt when Bush was in office? Poor Barack.

Obama voted against raising the debt ceiling when Bush was in office. Sounds like a flip-flop to me............

By Heikki (Heikki) on Monday, August 1, 2011 - 06:51 am:

John Boehner as SOTH conducts the process. It isn't his plan, per se. If it wasn't for the Tea Party, we wouldn't be discussing reduction of the debt today. "Our national debt represents the greatest threat to national security." - Hillary Clinton. Our national debt is becoming unsustainable. Back in 2006 when the Dems took over both houses of Congress, our debt started a sharp ascent. When then president George W. Bush requested a raise in debt limit, then Sen. Barack Hussein Obama said, "Raising the debt limit is a failure of leadership." The Tea Party, while having insufficient numbers to control the process, has influenced discussion in Congress. If the process continues with debt reduction in mind at every turn of the road, one day our children and grandchildren will thank us. We must think of the next generation, not the next election, or ourselves.

I have no regrets that I did not vote for Obama!!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 - 08:11 am:

Me neither, Janie!!!! Poor Barack???????? Poor the American people!!

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 - 09:08 pm:

So you girls don't believe all the problems were created by Bush? Obama will go down as the worst President since Carter.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 - 10:09 pm:

I have to say I believe he was a horrible president, but no, I think Barack has added a lot of problems that weren't there before. And I don't think Carter was a terrible President. He was just too nice.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 05:15 am:

Mikie, I'm in agreement 100% with Deb.

By Pat & Glenda (Gormfrog) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 07:59 am:

Had some problems with President Carter at the time...now reviewing his term, he was much better than we deserved!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 08:08 am:

Exactly, Gormfrog!! He won't go down as being as bad as people thought he was. The man is brilliant and just way too nice to have been President.

By FJL (Langoman) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 08:52 am:

"BRILLIANT,TOO NICE." And some day cows will fly.........

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 08:56 am:

They sure may, FJL. You just never know :) Say what you will about his presidency, but the man is sharp as a tack and about as nice a president as we've ever had. You will take notice that I am not including Barack in that statement.

By FJL (Langoman) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 09:45 am:

Sharp in what respect and nice as in being over his head in that position.

By Heikki (Heikki) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 09:47 am:

Read "In The President's Secret Service" by Ronald Kessler. Your opinion of Carter being 'too nice' may change. His behavior as a former president exposes his spiteful nature, as well, in criticizing sitting presidents. Public persona will most often mislead people (i.e.: John Edwards).

Brilliant? Maybe in some ways, but not in ways to be an effective president. He wanted to centralize too much. We now deal with his legacy of oversized, ineffective bureaucracies. DOE is one example. I don't blame all on Carter, though, as all presidents inherit problems from their predecessors, and it depends a lot on the makeup of Congress at the time.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 01:44 pm:

Mr. Kessler's book would not sell if facts were not stretched a bit. Everybody loves drama!

By Heikki (Heikki) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 07:46 pm:

No book is 100% accurate, even autobiographies, but this one is accurate enough to determine the basic personalities of presidents. Read the book, then decide.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 07:54 pm:

I'll read it next time I need help falling asleep! :)

By Heikki (Heikki) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 09:08 pm:

Well, to be honest, parts of it will do that. lol

By FJL (Langoman) on Thursday, August 4, 2011 - 07:57 am:

Criticizing a book without reading it???

By george piker (Asturgeon) on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 - 07:04 pm:

hollidays, that was surely a
criticizing statement that you opened this forum with. boehner was speaker -- what maybe
6 months -- when you wrote that? and already
it was meat and bone with you. gosh, boehner
is as close to being a democrat as you will find
in congress (without he declaring himself as
such).

i believe that bho said as a senator that
bush was 'unpatriotic' because of the
increase in national debt during his administration. not alot bush could do
because of the democratic control of the
congress. so national debt increased by
maybe 4 trillion under 8 years of bush.
on the other hand, under 3 years of bho
(2 years of super majority in congress),
bho has increased the national debt by
6 or 7 trillion. what is that!! and
what in the world will happen if bho is
re-elected?

carter: didn't pay much attention to politics
30 years ago but the one thing i remember was
the high interest rates! unexcusable that it
was allowed to happen. what a mess. like
going to loan sharks!
