Don't forget this evening at the Northern Lights restaurant in Houghton, the joint annual banquet of the Chamber of Commerce and Keweenaw Industrial Council. Last year Main Street Calumet and Pasty Central/Pasty.NET were honored with awards at the banquet, and we're looking forward to another exciting get-together this evening.

Last Year

By Alan, Kansas City, MO on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 08:22 am:

What a great looking, hard working crew. Thanks Pastycam staff for all you do. Despite the recent rancor, I'm sure everyone appreciates everything you do.

By maijaMI on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 08:30 am:

to Main Street Calumet and Pasty Central: Congratulations for last year, and for your continuing work. Please keep it up, and wish I was there to help you!

By danbury on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 08:50 am:

Nice folks. Er, who are they? To be more specific, I'm curious to know who's who?

By Cyn from Unda Dabridge on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 09:16 am:

Have a fun evening Pasty Crew. Thanks again for this site. Love it, love it, love it!

By yahoo in flatland on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 09:23 am:

yes, please ID the folks in the picture.

For ID's see Mary Drew's post below...

By cheryl mi on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 09:58 am:

You've connected people from all over the world to our beautiful Upper Peninsula. It's wonderful to see how many people love our little corner of the world. I found pasty.com to be my favorite site. I go to it every morning & if I miss a day or two I check it right away when I get back. You people deserve all of the honors that you can get. Please know that I appreciate all the work you do for this site so people can have a little of the UP in their lives .

By Mary Drew at Pasty Central on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 12:13 pm:

This fine looking group of folks up above is the Main Street Calumet gang if I'm not mistaken...
I can't name them all, but I know a few of them...

Top photo: Starting on the left: Richard Dana-Main Street Calumet Board Member, unknown lady, (in back) Phil Musser-Industrial Council, Tom Tikkanen-Main Street Calumet Director, Sue Cone-Calumet Village comptroller and KNHP commissioner, Frank Fiala-Keweenaw National Historic Park Superintendent, unknown gentleman.
Sorry I don't know more of the folks, perhaps someone else can fill in the blanks.

And by the way, Charlie omitted one important picture from that evening last year:

Phil Musser and Charlie Hopper!
Phil Musser-Industrial Council awarding Charlie Hopper/Pasty.net the Business of the Year award last year.

By danbury on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 12:33 pm:

Thank you, Mary.

Your Welcome! :->

By elm on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 12:37 pm:

Mary the unknown lady in the picture is Lucy Nakkula, Owner of Oak Street Interiors and a member of Main Street.

Thanks, elm. I thought it might be, but didn't want to ID the wrong person without knowing for sure!

By maijaMI on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 01:29 pm:

Hey! How about a group picture, with ID, of you wonderful pasty folk!? I met Charlie at last year's Pasty Fest, but none of the others. Everyone would love to have faces to go with the names.

Looks like a beautiful, sunny day in the Keweenaw today!!

By Barb Nelson, Jacobsville, MI on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 03:04 pm:

To Audrey in San Jose, CA

Yes, it sure is a beautiful day today. My neighbor and I just
came back from walking with our dogs on the beach out here
at White City (a suburb of Jacobsville on the Keweenaw
Peninsula). It couldn't be any more
beautiful. And the smell of fall is so wonderful!

By Audrey, San Jose, CA on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 03:18 pm:

Barb... Thanks for the details on your day. Now I have the picture (from the bridge cam) and your description! When my husband and I were in the Keweenaw in Aug/Sept of this year, we went through White City and Jacobsville, stopping in both places. Stood out on the little pier in White City, looking across the way towards the other side. Beautiful area. Is that the beach you're referring to?

By SUZANNE/ WISCONSIN on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 03:41 pm:

Welcome back Yooper. Love the little people. Made me smile.

By Chuck, LB on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 04:58 pm:

Marty, 10 days until you have us lost in the woods!

By Candy, CA on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 - 05:33 pm:

Audrey, I've searched my files for a good White City beach shot, or a Jacobsville sandstone picture, but they must be on CD somewhere in my collection.
In the meantime, here's Barb and hubby Don renewing their vows this summer (and happy 30th, Barb!)

The guy in the blue shirt holding the plaque is Tom Tikkanen, Suomi College grad, and who has shown a lot of SISU in upping the image of Calumet.

By Michigander on Thursday, November 4, 2004 - 07:47 pm:

The guy on the right is Patrick Beausoleil, he does the "It's better up north" ads for Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center.
