In the final frame of today's 10-year slide show there's a giant pine. In which U.P. county was it found? (let's see how well you can navigate the Pasty Cam Archives)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 07:17 am:

Marquette County?????

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 07:19 am:

By David (Dave) on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 07:23 am:

It snowing in Appleton. If you are traveling, be safe.

By JAD, Oscar, MI (Jandalq) on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 07:33 am:

Charlie -- On the Antiques Road Show last week I watched a "special" of unusual finds. A woman from Milwaukee showed 2 original prints made by an artist during the WPA days. I THINK (cannot recall accurately the name of the artist) the artist was named Bagley. One of the prints was of "Old Quincy," the shaft which burned around 1965. Did anyone else see that show?

By John W Anderson (Wd8rth) on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 08:05 am:

Good Morning Jandalq and everyone else

I also saw that WPA print. When they first showed the print I know that it was from a Copper Country mine.

Starting to snow here in Delta County. they are forecasting 6 to 8 inches today and tonight.
If you have to drive, please be safe and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

For second place...Baraga County.

By Rowdy (Roudymi) on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 08:31 am:

Saw the show also. Disappointed the subject of the art wasn't mentioned.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 10:10 am:

JAD I too saw that piece. Knew right away it was THE Quincy shaft. I also wished they had delved into it more. That's one of my favorite TV shows.

The picture of 2004 in Calumet looks so spookie, like no one lives there.
We have had over 60 inches of snow this season so far in our little town 0f 4000 in Wayland Mi.
and there saying another 4 to 10 in the next 24 to 36 hours. Our average is 70 inches, so where is the globle warming.

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 01:14 pm:

I went on a trip to the NOAA weather station in White Lake MI (north-west Motown area). The climatologist told us that because of prevailing weather patterns, global warming is likely to make Michigan colder and wetter.

weather.gov is a great site for people interested in weather.

Was just checking out weather.com to see when our freezing rain is going to end here in the lower Midwest and saw a picture that I thought looked really familiar--sure enough, it is the bridgecam pic from Hancock. The bridge has gone national now!

Good afternoon fellow Yoopers.

In the spirit of the holiday season I put together a list of Upper Peninsula non-profit organizations that can always use some additional help.

and if it's not money, there is always time, in-kind giving, or perhaps donating something around the house that you don't use anymore.

Just being curious related to the UP non propfit groups...does anyone know if there is a domestic violence support group in that area. Maybe it's related to a church supported organization? Just inquiring...
