Water reflections always fascinate me, and this one from Betsy Brown is no exception. Those fall colors give the water a coppery effect, along with a number of other hues, swirling about. Then Betsy backs up the lens and gives us a look at the rest of the picture with the river just rambling its way along the rocky shores.
The colors this time of year are so varied, from green, to yellow, to orange and finally to vibrant red, like the tree in Betsy's last shot. That one is so tall, it's like a big red flag waving to get our attention!

I really like that water one since the reflection isn't a perfect tree. Very nice.

We went to Belle Isle a few days ago and they have ponds which are like molts. There are these beautiful old stuctures and I caught it at the right time. The water was like glass and I caught the reflection perfect. You can turn the pictures upside down and you can not tell the difference. A couple of the pictures I am going to have blown up to 8x10's. I have a picture like that of, I believe it is, Lake Bailey, going up to Copper Harbor. There was even a dock coming out of the woods a little bit. My mom and I took a ride up there when I caught that one.

How cool is that first picture, in the water. If you get a chance take a drive down Pilgrim Rd. The colors were beautiful yesterday afternoon and we even got to see 5 deer in a clearing....beautiful, beautiful.

God gives us such beautiful paintings in the fall.....all we have to do is take some time and enjoy His work.

Each of you have a blessed weekend

Amen, Helen. God is quite the artist, especially during Autumn,
as the above pics show, and all the other pics here.

Good wonderful day to all. Snow in my yard. Wind blowing. Cat buried in the blankets. Sister says it's beautiful in the Keweenaw. Enjoy

… they have ponds which are like molts."

At the risk of seeming "picky", what the heck is a molt?
My vocabulary fails me, as do the dictionaries at the above link.

(Maybe I need a second cup of coffee to get my mind in gear?)

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Saturday, October 11, 2008 - 11:58 am:

Maybe the ponds have lost their feathers, Frank. I don't know it in that context either.

By Jeff Kalember (Jeffkal) on Saturday, October 11, 2008 - 12:17 pm:

anyone else love the smell of a cool, fall day.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Saturday, October 11, 2008 - 01:58 pm:

I'm guessing she meant moat.

Come on, frnash, admit it. You're really GOD keeping us mere mortals in line. Correcting our mistakes...:O>) Hey?????!!!

TO FRNash/PHX,az (Frnash)

FRNash You can keep correcting me. I enjoy your corrections and your additions to the site. Since I don't have spell check on this site I need someone like you to keep me on the straight and narrow.

How fun to see my pictures on the pasty cam today! Those were all taken near Canyon Falls.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Saturday, October 11, 2008 - 10:35 pm:

Why do people down here want to crack a window in the car when it gets hot. I have insurance, but come on now, my rates will go up. Frank,it just would not be you if you did not do what you do so well. She needs to search the archives to see she is at the end of a very long line.

Michael Du Long (Mikie), et. al.:

I have this funny habit: Any time I encounter a word or a concept I don't understand (like the above use of "molt", for example), I take the trouble to either do some research, or ask about it.

More often than not that turns into a learning experience for me, although not this time.

And likewise, I appreciate any time someone takes the time to correct me, when appropriate; 'tis just another learning opportunity.

So I guess ya can teach an old dog new tricks!

Beyond than that, this off topic discussion has just about reached the limit of the Acceptable Use Policy for this site. Let's end it here.

Beeeautiful colors! Fall is so full of all the colors. Love the first picture...God is a great painter of colors in all seasons even those grey/brown weeds. The brilliant whites in winter...amazing nature He has created!
