Good morning! Boy did those strawberries look good!!!

By Eddyfitz (Eddyfitz) on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 - 08:05 am:

They sure do look scrumptious, Do they still grow and ship semi-loads of strawberries from Lake Linden and Chassell as they did in the '50s?

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 - 10:11 am:

Every summer vacation we would have to take a day and go to the u-pick strawberry farm and pick em when I was a kid, I hated that. I think I ate more and threw them at my cousins more then I picked, really upset mom and our aunts, what did they expect, we were just kids!

We used to go to the strawberry farm in Nisula to pick berries. Is that place still there?

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 - 05:03 pm:

My Grandmother and Mother would encourage us to eat as much as we could when we picked Strawberries. That way, we would be full of them when they finally did purchase the flats. I remember my sister eating a bug by accident, when she popped one in. She called it a stink bug. But I think they call them potato bugs today.
Today, the Florida strawberries are nothing compared to my memories of Michigan's sweet berries.
