What a treat today, with this first photo from Frederic W. Koski. He not only captured a shot that makes you feel like you're flying right alongside this Eagle, but he also snapped the shutter at just the right time to get him in mid-scream. Too bad he didn't have a recorder with him to get the sound too. Truly though, what a majestic creature!

Paul Roberts was also lucky enough to catch an eagle in the act of landing in someone's yard recently. Oh, wait a minute, upon closer inspection I'd have to say there wasn't a bit of luck involved in this shot, unless you consider spotting it as you drive by lucky. That's actually a wooden carving that Paul photographed. Maybe not as majestic as an eagle in flight, but still a pretty amazing piece of yard art.

Thanks for the eagle pics guys!

Alfred Tennyson, Lord Tennyson
The Eagle

"He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ringed with the azure world, he stands.
The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls."

Joe, thank you for your Eagle poem. It's a "keeper"!

Isaiah 40:31

...but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Here's my eagle story.

The day I buried my first wife in Foster City, was, to say the least, emotional. Everyone but my brother-in-law, minister, and father-in-law had left. While we waited for the crew to come and cover the grave, a lone bald eagle appeared, circled the cemetery three times, and flew off. I had never seen an eagle in that area before, or since. Being Native American, this was a very spirtual thing for me, and tinged a very sad day with a small measure of happiness.

Took this photo at the Seney Nat'l Wildlife Refuge Nature Center 2 weeks ago when there. Should have posted it July 4th EH!

CherokeeYooper: The way I hear it, Native American legend says whenever a Eagle, Hawk, Owl is present in a situation as you tell here or when one follows you, hangs around, or sits close by watching you, that is your Guardian Angel checking on you, watching over you! I'm not Native American but this situation has happened to me and I've seen or heard of it with others way too many times to dismiss it. Your story here is particulary touching!

Awesome eagle photo!

By Jeff Kalember (Jeffkal) on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 - 10:54 pm:

The eagle looked down on the river below
And he wrapped his wings round him and he fell like a stone
And the big salmon fought but the talons held true
And he shuddered as the world turned from silver to blue
I stood there in awe though I'd seen it before
I was born in these mountains and I'll die here for sure...

one of my favorite songs...

The artist of the eagle in the second picture is Jim Spehar of Gay

Mary says: Thanks for supplying us with that information, Kent! We always try to give credit to whomever the artist is here on the Pasty Cam, but I didn't know where this one was located or who had created it. Thanks for helping out. :->
