In case you were wishing you could have been UP North for the 4th, but just couldn't make it, we have a quick pictorial of fireworks and a parade for you to enjoy. We start with one of the major highlights of the celebration in the town of Lake Linden, bringing so many people and cars in, that it takes an hour or more afterwards for them all to file out of town. These are two of the more colorful shots that were snapped of the sparkling display. I can't tell you how many were actually shot up in the air, but I can tell you that it was a beautiful display which more than did it's job of entertaining the crowds.

The next morning the festivities began with the annual parade down main street (M-26 or Calumet Street if you're a local). As is always the custom, it was filled with a variety of entries, including our local veterans who always lead the parade, carrying the flags with such dignity and pride. This year we were also treated to a visit from a famous New York lady, the Statue of Liberty, courtesy of the Office Shop in Calumet. Then the Bethany Baptist Church of Dollar Bay came through with a huge American Flag that the sun lit up just beautifully. There was even a giant wheel barrow, dubbed the Yooper Barrow, engineered by J.E. Hendrickson Excavating. Of course there were many other parade participants, including various floats, antique cars, clowns, horses, military vehicles, politicians, Little League Baseball players, marching bands, tractors and of course a multitude of fire trucks bringing up the rear with their sirens blaring and their horns blasting. You can't beat these small town celebrations.

I was cruising the Keweenaw on Friday and it was nice to see all the towns having their own celebration of some kind. The weather was fantastic.

Wow.....great pictures !!!! I love that American Flag !!!! Mr Hendrickson's float was pretty neat too. My heart was with the 107th and their welcoming the boys home this month...I will be so glad to see my grandson, it has been a long time.

It was a beautiful weekend for a parade, and to have fun. Today feels like a another great day.

Enjoy and God Bless........the summer will be over soon.

Awesome pictures. I love the Yooper Barrow, what a creative idea...that'd be something to put at "Da Yooper Tourist Trap" in Ishpeming, sure would get a lot of attention.

I checked out some fireworks around here, I took pics myself of South Range's but it was still a little too light out when they were doing them so they came out but the sky looks like its daylight lol

Hope everyone had a great 4th weekend!!

Deb! Yes the pictures are great and I was there!
(Well not at this particular parade!)

We watched the ones on Lake Linden and could hear the ones in South Range at my Uncles on the 4th but if we sat on the roof probably could have seen them. My cousin said the Lake Linden ones were good and the only ones she has seen better were Disneys.
