OK, I'm officially declaring this water week, since we've had some H2O in one form or another each day this week. Including Sunday's Shoebox, since the Visitor's Center is located in Watersmeet! :->

In today's photos, Debra McCumber, her "pretty girl" Abbi Jean and the rest of the family headed out to Piers Gorge in Norway, to check out the high water. Abbi seems to be quite the explorer, looking for an easy way down the rock wall, probably so she can get to the river's edge quicker. By the looks of the water in the next three pictures, it was doing its best to get wherever it was going and quickly too. All that sloshing, splashing and churning has created quite a froth of white water, which is the only white that I care to see this time of year. One can only imagine the roar that must have accompanied these snapshots.

Waterfalls are one of our favorite things to find when we hike.

Mary, I think you chose the water theme since you are so happy it is in its liquid form again.

That last pic looks like the Mississippi on a windy day, whitecaps and all. I think all of us are such a large % of fluids that the earths' waters are a spiritual draw to everyone. It sure draws me to rivers, lakes and streams!

Here I sit in Lake Jackson, Tx, looking at the streams in the north country. They run clear for the most part; unlike the muddy Brazos River here. And the gulf is muddy, too. Watched some surfers in the big waves yesterday and wondered how they could stand that roiled muddy water they were dumped into.
Good old clear water Lake Superior.

With the pictures from Norway today reminded me of this past Monday. I was sitting in the Hot Tub at Westgate Resort in Pigeon Forge, TN. And this man was asking afew of us where we were from, since it is a tourist hot spot with so many out of state license plates in the parking lot. When he asked me I had to say here in TN. now, but from Northern Michigan originally $ Bay. I forget where he lives now, he was from Norway. Of course while chatting and soaking I told him about Pasty Cam. I didn't get his name, but if you made it here friend, I hope you join in.

I don't know if this is okay to do on here? But if you would like to come and visit Pigeon Forge send me a e-mail to get 3 day's free in a Five Star Resort. You will of course spend a little time with a sales person. I also spent some time in the pool with a State Trooper from Orlando, who also just came for the free weekend, and free tickets for a show too, and ended up buying into it.

Husband and I spent our 20th anniversary in Pigeon Forge, way back in 1974. I'm sure it's changed a great deal as far as business buildup is concerned, but the natural surroundings, hopefully are the same. Beautiful part of Tennessee, David. I love all the water pix, Mary, I don't think anyone ever gets tired of looking at water.:)

Not sure why, but that second picture made me thirsty for root beer :-)

It's great that you are declaring this water week as this IS water week (May 4-10) for drinking water

By Snowman (Snowman) on Friday, May 9, 2008 - 06:07 pm:

Davy, I'd love to try it out. Can I soak in the "Hot Tub" with Dolly Parton?

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, May 9, 2008 - 09:41 pm:

For the people that were asking about our "Texas sized" sinkhole NE of Houston, I posted a pic and what is known so far on the geology thread for your reading enjoyment.....

Awww! Abbi was so excited to know she was featured on Pasty Cam again! She loves living in the U.P. where it seems there are no shortage of beautiful adventures to go on!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Snowman: I will see if I can set that up with Dolly. Last time she was there with Hulk Hogan. One of Dolly's cousin is married to Barbie's cousin. We will be going to our yearly Dollywood party next weekend, as my Son's Company flips the bill.

The water pics are great, but I especially love the ones of Abbi! Our experiece with Goldens tell me that she was just itching to get in and swim. Our last Golden would hit our pond as soon as there was an opening in the ice in the spring and swim until the last of it was frozen solid at the end of the year. They don't have webbed toes without a reason!
