Let me know if anyone has any problem seeing the "Life of the Pasty Cam" show today. I think we finally have it working for everyone.

Works fine Charlie

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Saturday, February 9, 2008 - 12:53 am:

Hey I stayed up and I missed it because of solitare games. Better man won. Congrats Uncle Chuck. If I run into you I will buy you a cold one. Charley I had a Yorki like that and he would be embaresed when Precious would dress him up to go walking with me. I have an orange hunting jacket with the game pouch in the back and that is where he would end up after a block or so of our walks. His name was Max best dog I ever had. He was small and afraid of everything. One night he went out to do his duty and ran into a racoon, after that I had to stand out on the deck with the lights on or he would not leave the deck. The only time he would be protective was when anyone dared to go by Andrea the Irish Dancer. She was his baby and would let you know it. Those were the days when the kids and Andrea lived with us. Miss those days a lot. Nothing I would love more then to have the kids and grandkids live with us in the big old shack under the oak tree on the corner. When they moved into their new house I was broken hearted as was Max he would whine by Andreas bedroom and he went down fast after she left him. Thanks for the picture, hope I have nice dreams of Max and I on our walks.

Jimmie the fat white cat wont even go out on the porch. He is not going to leave his bed by the register. So now if I want to walk I have to go animal less. Well bed time I guess. Nighty night Kay

Mikie, your stories are wonderful. Loved the pictures and they worked fine for me. Happy Birthday to my bro, Rod, in Cary IL. Special Day to you!

By k j (Kathiscc) on Saturday, February 9, 2008 - 07:55 am:

Liz B. I lived in Cary, IL most of my life. What's your brother's last name?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, February 9, 2008 - 08:03 am:

Good morning everybody! Thanks again for the great pictures, Charlie.

Mikie, your stories are so great. Why were you playing solitaire? You always seem to miss the bird because of something when you're waiting, don't you? Poor Max!!! My dog wouldn't protect us either. When somebody comes here, she growls and her tail immediately drops as she's running for her kennel. But she's a great dog.

Charlie= Everything seems to be working fine. That sunset is
especially lovely. This feature is like taking a couple of minutes to
meditate each morning. Must be good for our health--especially
our mental health.

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Saturday, February 9, 2008 - 08:35 am:

Actually that is a sunrise I think you're referring to. It's one of the wonderful photos Donn de Yampert has contributed to the Pasty Cam over the years.

Charlie...success! We have picture and sound.

Morning from snowing Wells down in the banana belt of the UP. 19 degrees and falling.

On Thursdays What’sUP Charlie noted there are 2 improvements in on the page. Alison P said the Music was one. Did anyone guess what the other one was? If not will Charlie let us know??

Stay Warm this weekend.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, February 9, 2008 - 11:18 am:

Good Morning, Everyone! I see that Copper Country and Munising to Grand Marais and Deer Park have a Blizzard Warning later this afternoon, tonight, and tomorrow. I hope everyone who is UP there can stay inside, nice and warm and safe! I know that many Michigan Tech parents and alumni who were UP there for Winter Carnival this weekend are planning to come home today, a day early, to beat the storm. I pray that they all have a safe journey, ahead of the storm. And, I hope that the others, who chose not to come home early, will stay in Houghton longer, to wait it out until after the storm passes, rather than make the trip in extremely dangerous conditions.

Charlie, your videos are magnificent! I love the sunrise! And that poor little dog looks pretty uncomfortable to me, but at least he was warm. He made me smile. Thank you, Charlie and company for all of your great work on this project and everything that you do!

By Liz B (Lizidaho) on Saturday, February 9, 2008 - 12:54 pm:

Oops. Sunrise for sure at that location.

Charlie, What happened to the Pasty Cameo for February 4. I watched it and emailed it to family and friends. You were doing a voice-over the pictures for that day each year in the life of the Pasty Cam.

By k j (Kathiscc) on Saturday, February 9, 2008 - 11:07 pm:

Liz B- Nope, don't know him. I left Cary-Grove High in 1969, so he wasn't there any of the time when I was.

By Dunerat (Dunerat) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 08:20 am:

Mornin' all!

I've been out here on the dune for fifteen years and I've never
seen it look quite so savage out there. It's been colder, and
there's been heavier snow, but I've never seen them converge
quite like this.

The visibility out over Lake Michigan is ratcheting back and forth
between a half mile and a hundred yards. When the water is
visible at all, there are big waves, but not huge ones because
there's so much milky-looking ice floating on it, keeping them
from building too much. The breaking waves are getting ripped
apart; there's more spindrift than water.

NWS at the Muskegon County Airport says it's 1 degree out there
with a minus 22 wind chill. Out here on the lake, my weather
station says it's 5 degrees and the wind chill is between 20 and
40 below. But my anemometer rig is kind of protected from the
wind. It looks like it's blowing 40 or 50 out over the water.

We still have power and the generator is full of gas, so hopefully
we'll be able to stay warm today. You all do the same, and pray
for those who can't.

The 'other improvement' we made in this page was just a bug fix. Previously the "What'sUP" link at the bottom of the discussion pages would give a blank page, now you get the Cameo as you should.

Thanks to RD from Iowa for pointing out the flaw. He wins a lifetime supply of pasties.

Just kidding, RD.

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 12:33 pm:

Oh, and for Peg's question... We restored the link to February 4th's Pasty Cameo. You'll find it on last week's page.
