We're pretty sure this is Mary Drew's hubby delivering the mail eight years ago on the Pasty Cam. Jim is already in his second year of retirement.

...and of course he's appeared more than once on these pages.

Jim

Good Morning Susan, up early to late.

By Susan Caryl (Gilbsulmum) on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 06:15 am:

Yep, us midnight toilers have an advantage...at least if things get started before 7:00. But I'm afraid I'm just too lazy to get up on my days off to get that early bird!

By Grace M Wetton (Gmw) on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 06:35 am:

Good Morning everyone! 10 degrees and clear here in Houghton. A high of 29 predicted for today.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 07:13 am:

Good morning! Where are the mail boxes in the first picture!

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 07:18 am:

Is Jim at the Mystery Spot in that picture?(2nd one). He seems to be leaning!

By NKR (Nkr) on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 08:24 am:

Good morning from Mishawaka IN. 20° this morning. Our high will be in the upper 20's with a chance of freezing drizzle. Sure would like to see the sun today.

By Ned Aldridge (Nedjames) on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 09:00 am:

Jim is standing inside the semi-sunken Quincy Mine dredge, which is leaning as it sits on the bottom of Torch Lake, so he is not leaning, the dredge is. All of the graffiti gives the site away.

Good morning all! Hope everybody has a great weekend. It's ABOVE ZERO!!!!!!!!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 09:31 am:

Good Morning, Everyone from mid-Michigan, where it is snowing big, beautiful flakes. Later today, it will be time to break out the snow blower and shovels, but there is still too much coming down now. Anyway, it's a beautiful winter wonderland here this morning! I imagine my sons might even make it out to what my special needs son calls, "the snow hill", which is really the City Forest, for some old-time sledding with friends. :-)

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 12:18 pm:

Very curious digs.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 01:47 pm:

I found a curiosity, an interesting pair of mittens for Michiganders, that I thought you might find intriguing. :-) I am not suggesting you go out and buy them, by any means; I am not. I just think they are interesting:

Thanks for the Quincy Mine explanation Ned. I thought I was going to need a drink to view this shot correctly.

By Keith in Kansas (Keithinks) on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 04:20 pm:

Interesting mittens...maybe a little more accuracy now when describing specific locations! Sounds like it is quite a bit warmer up there this weekend. It is a balmy 49 here in Kansas...going to wear shorts on my run this afternoon instead of the insulated shell over my Under Armour that I wore during last Saturday's Lumijuoksu in Hancock. Have a great weekend!

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 04:33 pm:

I love those mittens. Wish I had a pair. Maybe I can give a relative
a hint about that.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 06:48 pm:

Keithinks, the lower peninsula mitten is not all that accurate, because the Saginaw Bay is not nearly that big, and it does not go nearly that far south or west. I believe it is distorted because of the depth it had to go with the physical thumb of the mitten. You would have to look at a map to see that. :-)
