I had forgotten how high the water used to come on the beach below our house here in Eagle River. Compared to the way it appeared eight years ago on this day, that driftwood is now under about a foot of show.

Good Morning from Houghton. 29 degrees and finally stopped snowing for now so we can get outside to clean up the yard.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, December 2, 2007 - 09:47 am:

Good morning! Well, our 10 to 16 inch blizzard turned out to be about 4 inches. They were wrong again. But that's okay with me.

Hope everybody has a nice day before they have to go back to work tomorrow.

It looks like the radar base is getting slammed. Hope you UPies are doing ok.

Good Morning, Everyone, from white and icy mid-Michigan. It's supposed to rain, starting this afternoon, and then refreeze. A monster mess! It will be interesting to see if they can get the roads in a drivable condition by tomorrow morning, so that there can be school. School's still out on that question (sorry, I couldn't resist that). :-)

There were a bunch of accidents here Friday morning, especially in the rural areas and on the highways, because of a little bit of snow. One of the accidents was fatal; that guy (age 53) would have lived if he had just worn his seatbeat (he rolled his little truck into a ditch). Please drive carefully and appropriately for the conditions, and please, always wear your seatbelts!

Good morning from Mishawaka IN. What a difference a day makes. Yesterday we had snow and freezing rain and it was in the mid 20's. Today its cloudy and 49°. Only in northern Indiana.

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Sunday, December 2, 2007 - 02:14 pm:

Good afternoon from Mishawaka, IN. The rain has started and the temp at my house is 52 degrees. Snow tomorrow. Yikes, I wish Mother Nature would make up her mind.

Cold and foggy here in Berkley when suddenly a shot rang out and I jumped to my feet only to find out the t.v. was on and Lenny Briscoe was shooting at a bad guy. Boring day here even Jimmie the fat white cat is trying to find something to do entertaining. He is now chasing a piece of ribbon. Borrrrrrrrrrring here.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, December 2, 2007 - 02:53 pm:

Talk about a boring day. You can add cold to that. Our power went out, suddenly, and was out for about an hour and a half. So, it was cold and dark here. (A few of our neighbors already had their noisy generators on. So, between the sounds of generators and of snow blowers, it was not quiet.) The good news is that the power is back on now.

I hope you all stay safe and warm!

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Sunday, December 2, 2007 - 04:26 pm:

It's warm inside our house here in Toronto. Our son, home on
leave for Christmas, made a wonderful fire in the fireplace. Just
right for sitting in the living room and watching football games.
Company will be arriving soon, and we'll enjoy a Sunday dinner
together.

Though we have about 6 inches of the white stuff on the ground
here, my daughter tells me she has over a foot of it at her place
near Ishpeming. She made a snowman and plans to get the
snowshoes out to take the dogs for a walk.

I just noticed that our new neighbors who have three small
children have also built a snowman. I think I'll walk over and
appreciate their handiwork. They've just put a carrot on for a
nose.

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Sunday, December 2, 2007 - 05:06 pm:

I have had a busy day. I have put up about 12 different strings of Blue and White Christmas lights on the Myrtle tree out front, and about 8 Blue web-style lights for the Jasmine bushes that are in bloom. I have hung all of the snowflake design ornaments and blue icicles, trying my best to have the outside look cool and inviting. Temp has been in the 80's all day :( The snowmen down here start at $49.99 and go up into the hundreds, so I won't have one of them this year.

By Snowman (Snowman) on Sunday, December 2, 2007 - 05:09 pm:

Once there was a snowman,
Who stood outside my door,
He wished that he could come inside,
And run about the floor.
He wished that he could warm himself,
Beside the fire, so red,
He wished that he could climb
Upon the great big white bed.

So he called to the North Wind,
"Come and help me, pray,
For I'm completely frozen,
Standing here all day."
So the North Wind came along,
And blew him in the door,
And now there's nothing left,
But a puddle on the floor!

:(
