I do believe we are quite ahead of the snowfall by this date 8 years ago. This morning the plow trucks will be a little busier than they were back then.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 06:50 am:

Good Morning, Everyone! TGIF! I hope everyone who wanted a deer got one this deer season!

Mid-Michigan has its first Winter Storm Watch for the season, complete with a forecast for a bunch of ice (yuck!!!). I can live with snow. Ice is another story. I hope everyone stays safe with this major weather event that is supposed to go through Troll Land, beginning tomorrow night!

Is bow and arrow season longer?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 07:49 am:

Good morning! It's extremely cold. I don't like it. Glad it's Friday. Have a nice day everybody.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 07:53 am:

Good morning from frosty E. TN. with no snow or ice in the forecast!

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 08:40 am:

Good morning, school is delayed 1-1/2 hours this morning up here in the copper country. I thought they were tougher than that up here!

By Fairandfinn (Fairandfinn) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 08:55 am:

Good morning from the northern lower and a pressing question from water cooler chatter (even tho' I know this isn't technically in the U.P., I thought maybe some of the boat guys might know the answer): What is the ship currently anchored in the East Arm of Grand Traverse Bay, approx. 45th parallel? It's been there since late Wed./early Thurs, and quite an unusual sight.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 09:25 am:

That school delay is really odd, Brooke. It is the only one in the UP, according to WLUCTV6 this morning. Maybe is it not weather related, but because of something else?

By Daveofmohawk (Daveofmohawk) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 10:45 am:

I was surprised that school was not canceled today in the CLK district. I went outside to do some plowing this morning about 7 a.m. and couldn't see across the street here in Mohawk. Right now it has let up a bit but then every once in a while gets really nasty again. Temp. is at 7 degrees.

By Daveofmohawk (Daveofmohawk) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 10:48 am:

BROOKE: It's not a matter of being tough or not; it's the safety of our children that is at stake.

By Mr. Bill (Mrbill) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 01:06 pm:

Just heard on the scanner:

The crew atop Mt. Bohemia just measured the snow depth at 24 inches.

Da Tech's web cams show conditions that look down right wicked at the moment!

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 02:36 pm:

I have a sweat going. Washed the car and cut the grass, dressed in shorts and T-shirt. Would not want to be in snow until March or April -??- as you in the U.P. will be, rather not wear a hat,and stay in Tennessee. hee hee get er done.

By Alex J. Tiensivu (Ajtiensivu) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 02:51 pm:

If someone would be kind enough to send me a box of snow, I would appreciate it. E-Mail me for my address. (Snicker).

By Alex J. Tiensivu (Ajtiensivu) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 02:53 pm:

GOOD NEWS!!!!!! For all those who remember the incident, I am ordering Pasties and my son PROMISES not to use A-1 Sauce on them. I don't think I could take all the hate mail again! (Laughing out loud).

By MHodges (Churchlady) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 03:54 pm:

The hard working crew/crews at Saint Joseph Church in Lake Linden "built" 1,230 pork pies over 3 days this week, which will be distributed on the weekend and then sold until they are gone. It's a French tradition to eat pork pie after Midnight Mass (which we still have) on Christmas. We have lots of extras! They are $9 and can be purchased on the weekend from 9:00 until Noon on Saturday or Sunday from 8:45 until 11:30. After that you can call the parish office at 906-296-6851 during business hours (M-F 8:30 until noon and 1:00 until 4:00). What we don't sell on the weekend will be frozen and are for sale.

By Eva (Upergal) on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 06:11 pm:

Well for the last 2 days we had sun and no snow here in champion! But colder than... Its only 2 above at 6 p.m. here so this will be the coldest night. Bohemia sounds like a lot of snow! And would love to send those down South all the snow! Ha! Take care all! I ordered some calenders so am excited about getting them! Bye now,

Keweenaw Peninsula has been slammed with snow the past few days as well as the western end of the U.P., winter storm warnings.
School delays were all around as well as being let out around lunch time!

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Saturday, December 1, 2007 - 12:29 pm:

Alex, There's nothing wrong with A-1 on pasties...although I prefer Heinz 57 steak sauce on mine ;)
