A familiar sight as you pass through Alberta, just south of L'Anse on U.S. 41. It first appeared on the Pasty Cam on this day in '99.

When you see that Ford sign, you're getting close to the Hilltop and a great sweetroll.

By Kathy P. (Katiaire) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 - 09:05 am:

Good morning all. Congrats on the early bird, Unclechuck. Don't you just expect to see a big buck coming out of those woods?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 - 09:09 am:

Good morning. Speaking of big bucks, I have to be very careful if I come home after dusk because on our own little dirt road they're crossing like crazy. It's great to watch them.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 - 09:12 am:

Good Morning, Everyone on a lovely fall morning in the neighborhood! Happy Saturday!

When we see the Ford sign, to us it means, "Hooray, we're almost there!" after the long journey UP there. Remember the old game when you have kids, "Are we there yet?...are we there yet?". :-)

By Kathy P. (Katiaire) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 - 09:51 am:

But don't zoom past the museum in Alberta. It is a very interesting place to visit with the sawmill, the company village and the Ford history.

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 - 11:27 am:

Good morning from Mishawaka, IN. It is cloudy and cool. Much better than the high 80s of last weekend. Enjoy the weekend.

What a wonderful day!!!! GO WISCONSIN.........

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 - 02:31 pm:

and when we see that sign we are VERY close. Just have to head up the peninsula when we get around the corner to L'anse!

By Bob Jewell, Farmington Hills (Rjewell) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 - 02:40 pm:

If you stop at Alberta to see the sawmill/museum don't leave without seeing Dave Stimac's Birdseye-Connection and Nature's Way Woodworking. His rocking chairs and dining table sets are amazing. Link from pasty.com home page-

Bob--Thanks for the tip. I will pass the word on.

Marsha--When my dad sees that view he gets pretty enthusiastic
since L"Anse is the stomping ground of his youth.

By Snowman (Snowman) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 - 05:27 pm:

Baraga and L'Anse are just beautiful. Kind of reminds me of Door County only the people are nicer, the food is better and the air is much more exhilarating.Oops, almost forgot, and a lot easier on the wallet.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. :)

By Snowman (Snowman) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 - 06:10 pm:

OOPS, sorry almost forgot, hope my favorite poster, aka, David Hiltunen, has a "Yooper" weekend. Lots of pasties, a little bit of beer and lots of cheer! :>) Keep postin' DAVE!

Went thru Alberta a week ago today on the way home. Had a great 8 days in the Keweenaw staying at the White House Motel (thanks Mary for the recommodation). John and Jeanine are gracious host, the rooms are cozy, clean and comfortable. On week days Jeanine provides coffee along with a homemade goodie in the mornings. Had some yummy coffee cakes and cookies. Also ate at the Hut a few times, once having a picnic size pasty. VERY GOOD!!! I highly recommend it for the person that is not a big eater.

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 - 11:05 pm:

Kathy P. thanks for the early bird wishes, and yes, a big buck bounding out of the woods would be perfect. As Brad Paisley would say, " You see Bambi, I see antlers on the wall". Hope I can make it U.P. for firearm season on 11/15, but shoulder surgery on Tuesday the 16th might stop that. Not looking forward to it.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 - 11:21 pm:

Best wishes to you on your shoulder surgery, Uncle Chuck. That can be a real pain, from one who has been there a couple of times. I wish you a very speedy & complete recovery! Rifle season a month after surgery: I don't know, but I would be surprised I your doctor would permit that one, considering the recoil on the rifle, et al. sorry. :-) I hope I am wrong and that you can hunt. I bet you could at least go up there, just not hunt!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 - 11:29 pm:

Uncle Chuck, as one who is still in a sling from shoulder surgery almost 4 weeks ago, I can pretty much guarantee you won't want a gun hammering on that shoulder that soon! This will be the second straight season I've missed, both because of my shoulder. Have patience and let it heal. Mr. Deb

great pic on Tech's viewcam this morning (8:00) of College Ave in a dense blanket of fog (cloud?) with only a church steeple and a few tall things barely peeking through.

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 08:11 am:

Even neater pic now (8:11) Sky is rosy, fog is moving toward the canal. Hope anyone else is up to see the pic.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 08:54 am:

Thank you for the tip Maija. In looking at Tech's Fund Cam and Pasty's Bridge Cam, some would ask the question, "Lift Bridge? What bridge? I don't see any bridge!".

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 - 12:43 pm:

Maija, I got a picture of all that fog on Sunday.
