A visit to a quiet neighborhood eight years ago on the Pasty Cam. Most notably our remarks mentioned that fall color was just beginning. This year the colors started appearing in late August.

By Lowell La Fave (Lowell) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 04:49 am:

Maybe I should get the Night Owl for this.
Couldn't sleep.

That's pretty neat, Lowell. I've never seen that before.

By Lowell La Fave (Lowell) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 05:14 am:

Now that is something else. Not only get the early bird but also the night owl. Is this some kind of a record , to be birded twice?

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 05:41 am:

A double header Lowell! Good morning all!

By Theresa R Brunk (Trb0013) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 06:28 am:

WOW!.. congrads Lowell. A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush? LOL. In this case I guess not, if the "bushes" are in the Copper Country. Good Morning Everyone, from Florida

By Lowell La Fave (Lowell) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 06:31 am:

Didn't know a double header could be had. But its neat. Guess thats what comes of being a night owl.
Cool 64 here in NE central Missouri. Been watching the temps up North on the Marquette TV station and you have been haveing weather close to ours. But they say were going to cooloff somemore. Be more like UP weather. Everyone have a good Morning and a great day. Going to hit the rack.

By Lowell La Fave (Lowell) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 06:32 am:

Therasa this time the birds were both in the hand. Have a great day.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 06:50 am:

Good Morning, Everyone! Wow, Lowell, that's pretty cool!

Speaking of cool, we seem to be in a fall weather pattern here in mid-Michigan this week. Today, the high temperature will be in the mid-60's. And, it will be that way most of the week. I guess that goes with the early color that Charlie mentioned. :-)

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 07:24 am:

What's the old saying...... collect 2 birds with one post??

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 07:34 am:

Good morning! Good job, Lowell.

Cool here too. I'm not liking it at all. We went fishing yesterday and I was so bundled up you'd swear we were ice fishing. Except that I don't go ice fishing cuz it's too cold. We did catch supper though.

By Lorelei (Lorelei) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 09:21 am:

Charlie,
This photo would make a great one for Halloween. Kinda spooky!

Have a great week everyone! Cool & cloudy here in the Copper Country. Quite refreshing.

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 09:24 am:

Hello, I am liking the weather its good for sleeping. Don't want anything cold yet though.

By Mike R New Berlin WI (Miker) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 09:29 am:

abcnews.go.com has an interesting article about the ore carrier Cyprus that sank 100 years ago being found. It's under Main Headlines, Old ship found

By FJL (Langoman) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 09:54 am:

My Grandparents are at rest in Lake View Cemetary. I don't consider the picture "spooky" at all. It"s a place of quiet, peaceful dignity and beauty. The way I will alway's picture it.........

By k j (Kathiscc) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 10:19 am:

I, personally, am ready for a freeze. Just one, hard freeze. Kill all the ragweed, and mosquitoes. Then we can have Indian summer.

Deb- how's your son doing now? Know he has to go in again for another procedure, but is he handling it ok?

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 11:00 am:

How about one hard freeze to kill the ragweeds & the bugs, and then Indian summer until May? :-)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 11:19 am:

Football season has started, it's time for Fall. When was the last time the Vikings, Lions and Packers were all tied for first this late in the season? Whoo Hoo!!!!!
Mr. Deb

By John W (Jwahtola) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 11:25 am:

The crops do not need a freeze yet here in Hillsdale county but I sure would like to get rid of the mosquitoes. They think I make a great meal. They do not bother my husband because they know not to bite Santa.

Fox News.Com also has the story of the CRYPRUS.
Great day here in Missouri, 78 with a high of 83 and cloudy.

By Lowell La Fave (Lowell) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 01:30 pm:

They also have the story etc. about the Cyprus at the Greatlake Shipwreck Museum.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 08:19 pm:

My son is doing okay. We won't hear until the end of Sept. how urgent this whole open heart thing is. He's handling it like I couldn't were it me. He's back at school and work so he hopes to finish this semester and then see what happens from there. We're not sure if this can wait until spring or not. I guess we'll find out. Insurance coverage is the important factor (other than the actual surgery of course). If he's not in school, he's not covered. So there are things we have to work out. Thanks so much for asking.

By Albert Silfven (Aappo16) on Monday, September 10, 2007 - 10:13 pm:

My grandfather, Carl A. Silfven, purchased the Hafer studio in about 1904 and operated it until 1941 when it was destroyed by fire. Its last location was on Reservation street in Hancock north of what is now UPhill 41. After the fire, Gartner's store purchased the studio site for a parking area.
