First Post

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 06:01 am:

morning

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 06:06 am:

Jimmie the fat white cat is now really mad since we didn't get the early bird, but we did beat Deb so that is some thing. Back to bed and then get up to take Precious to work. By the way Fjl I married Precious for her money and brains not for her brick out house body. Nothing like being a kept man.

By Theresa R Brunk (Trb0013) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 06:12 am:

Good Morning Everyone. An Honest Man is hard to find, Mikie. I am sure Precious has some solid reasons why she married you, too. ;-)

By lz (Llamamama) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 06:44 am:

Hey Mikie! I hope my husband says the same of me!! I am celebrating 21 years of matrimony with Mr. Llamamama today.

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 06:49 am:

Happy anniversary! I love the picture of the shelter. Reminds me of my youth camping days.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 06:52 am:

Deb:

You were late again!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 07:28 am:

Phil, so that's your name. Yup, sorry, couldn't even be 2nd today. Sometimes I like to sleep later than Charlie puts everything up. Blame him. LOL Was nice to meet a fellow pastycammer the other day. At least they put a couple of my pictures on the Cam Notes page? Pretty impressive, huh? Maybe I'll see you soon.

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 07:30 am:

Happy Anniversary! Had quite a lightning show coming into work today watched it over Ann Arbor, slept right through it when it was at my place. Another hot and muggy day.

By Pennie (Trolldiva) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 08:38 am:

Happy Anniversary Llamamama & mr. llamamama!

By Pennie (Trolldiva) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 08:40 am:

Mikie you crack me up! Sorry you missed the early bird. Deb was nice enough to let someone else get it since she and Mr. Deb had the picture of the day. I wonder why they didnt summit the picture of all of us in St. Ignace? LOL

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 08:54 am:

Good Morning, You All! Congratulations, Deb & Mr Deb on being featured with your picture of the day!

LOL, Mikie - you are too funny! A guy in our computer club has said that he married his current wife (his only wife) for her money and that he is a kept man, for as long as I have known him, at least 5 years. But Lee hasn't said anything about her brains. And, your part about Jimmie the fat white cat is mad because you didn't get the early bird--let me guess, Jimmie the fat white cat wanted you to get the early bird so that he could have breakfast? LOL :-)

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 09:07 am:

Oh Mikie, you are really too funny! I had missed your posts from earlier this morning on yesterday's What's uP?, waiting to be the early bird with Jimmie the fat white cat! I'm sorry you missed the early bird! :-)

By FJL (Langoman) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 12:17 pm:

Hey Mikie, sounds like she has all three attributes. With the name Precious, her childhood and school days must have been full of taunting. Nothing a thin skinned person could handle. Your a "kept" but a fortunate man. Lots of luck......FJL

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 12:39 pm:

Phil NMU1, Class of what ?

Class of 80 myself, Sure do miss Marquette, get U.P. there on business every now and then.

By Dunerat (Dunerat) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 01:28 pm:

According to the US Army Corps of Engineers web site, the running mean level of Lake Superior for August has just dropped to 183.01 meters. Unless there's an awful lot of rain by the end of the month, it's quite likely that this will mean a new record low for the month; it beats the old record of 183.02 set in 1926.

Roudy's right; the bugs are thirsty.

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 01:31 pm:

I would rather they drink the lake water than suck my blood. This summer there have not been too many mosquitos.

By Phil Hoover (Nmu1) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 01:39 pm:

Uncle Chuck:

I graduated from Eastern Michigan in 1977, but fell in love with the UP and Marquette. A lot of my friends were/are from the UP and got me interested in NMU Hockey. Planning on retiring in Marquette.

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 02:17 pm:

dunerat: did you see the article in the Det Free Press about dredging that it is believed may be involved in the lowered lake levels? Makes sense. I understand about evaporation, no rain, warm winters, hot dry weather, etc. All along, however, I never thought those were the total cause of the water loss.

By Tom Karjala (Tom) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 02:46 pm:

Hey you guys! I am grad of NMU and MSU in the state of Michigan. Others around? Other alma maters, WIU and ISU. Retired here to Green Bay. Still liking it here even though global warming might make it hotter in the longer run.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 03:06 pm:

I graduated from Rice University in Houston, TX. We did not move to Michigan until about 5 years after we graduated. We have been here 28 years now, so far. :-)

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 04:29 pm:

Hey Tom, you'll have to join Phil and I in a few years at a WILDCAT hockey game when we're retired,I'm buyin after the game!!!!!

By Matt Karhu (Matt_k) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 05:12 pm:

I guess a few of you had to go to more than one college to find one that would give you passing grades. LOL!

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 09:52 pm:

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 10:13 pm:

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 10:49 pm:

Why thank you, son. By the way, I've always wondered where this here "Little Betsy" is or what it is. Also where that wildlife santuary is that was mentioned earlier (maybe yesterday)?

By A² in Cedar Bay (Andytofu) on Friday, August 24, 2007 - 05:43 am:

While on the subject of colleges/universities, my affiliations are with Suomi College (now Finlandia University), Detroit Commercial College, and good old Wayne State University. Just read that "the Tech" is recognized as one of the top 124 institutions in the United States. Go Huskies!

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Friday, August 24, 2007 - 06:51 am:

Little Betsy is between Gay and Lac La Belle on the south shore of the Keweenaw.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, August 24, 2007 - 08:08 am:

Thank you, Uncle Chuck. I've always wondered where Little Betsy is; I have seen Big Betsy on a map, but not Little Betsy. :-)

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Friday, August 24, 2007 - 09:46 am:

Ms Katie-- I have a PhD from the School of Hard Knocks myself...magna cum laude, or whatever they call it. Lived right here in Michigan for the whole thing.

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Friday, August 24, 2007 - 10:52 am:

Marianne, Yep, LB is right next to the booming metropolis of Big Betsy. lol
