What a coincidence: 8 years ago today the Mackinac Bridge was the backdrop for our shot of the day, and here we are now celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Emily and Axel Riemer were framed in front of the Straits by guest Pasty Camist Peg Riemer (their mom).

The summer after 8th grade, I went out east with friends and I have a picture like this someplace. Can't find the darn thing though. It's just an awesome sight.

I have done the reenactment at both the Fort and at the Father Marquette site for many years. It is still one of my favorite places to visit and to reenact. If I ever figure out how to put pictures on the site here I will dazzle everyone with my prowness as a reenactor.

Top 'o the Morning to all. Mikie looking forward to seeing your photos some day.I know my daughter Jane will love driving over the Big Mac this weekend, me too.Never was there when the bridge didn't exist. I enjoy crossing on ferrys. My favorite was in Ireland but the Puget Sound is awesome from that ferry too. Glad you're finally settled in your home for good, Sharon.

I remember my Dad pointing out the construction of the Big Mac when we were crossing on the ferry. the "Vacationland" was the favorite. I was 6 in 1956.

So enjoy all the memories of folks who crossed on the ferries. We have a ferry ride at Port Aransas, Texas to get to the beach or the jetty to watch seagoing and/or navel minesweepers pass by. But I timed the ride at near 2 and a 1/2 minutes. BIG difference. Guess they don't build a causeway due to the lowlands or flats so wide.
