Z-Man sent in the perfect picture to start our Memorial Day with. If I'm not mistaken, a gun with the soldier's helmet hung on it, symbolizes a fallen comrade's ultimate sacrifice and since Memorial Day (originally called Decoration Day) is when we honor those men and women who have died while in service to our nation, I can't think of a better way for the Pasty Cam to remember the day. If you look behind the memorial in Z-Man's picture you catch a glimpse of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, which is the central focal point in the second shot by Ashlee Harvey. She sure picked a beautiful vantage point to shoot from and I'm betting it would be a peaceful spot to sit quietly and remember on this observance of Memorial Day.

Have fun today and stay safe.Summer is on it's way.Keep an eye on the kids, and let them run and have fun.Tell them what the day is about, and pray that they never have to go off to War.

Very nice picture Z-Man for this Decoration Day.Joanie is on the loose.

God Bless our men and women who are serving this country in war and peace. Pray for their safety and remember those who have died in the line of duty. God Bless America and all those who value the freedom which is "not free".

Happy Memorial Day! Z-Man, what a great picture to see first thing on Memorial Day, picture perfect you may say.

David, you are correct there.

Hope everyone reading this keeps all those fallen heroes uppermost in their hearts and minds. Lets all pray for a swift end to this conflict. I am going to place flags out today and get my fill of Bar-B-Que. Take care all, and have a blessed day

That's a great picture. Prayers go out to all of those who are currently serving and many thanks to those that have served and paid the ultimate price.

Honoring those fallen from Fort Hood, TX - "The 4th Inf. Div.’s Operation Iraqi Freedom Memorial Monument became part of the division’s lore September 2, 2004, following the division’s return from Iraq earlier that year, to pay honor to 83 Ivy Division Soldiers, and a Department of the Army civilian employee, who lost their lives in Iraq.
Upon the division’s return from OIF 05-07, the memorial was expanded to make room for 235 additional fallen warrior plaques to honor 232 Soldiers and three Marines, the men and women who did not return home with their fellow comrades after serving under the Multi-National Division – Baghdad banner, which was spearheaded by the 4th Inf. Division."

I went to the Memorial Day Ceremony at Ahmeek and at Lakeview Cemetery this morning; everyone involved did a great job. Kind of hard to stay dry-eyed during those ceremonies.
