While attending Larry Lankton's class at MTU back in '99, Jonathan photographed an electrical substation which had caught fire outside the building. One of his shots actually made it to the cover of the Daily Mining Gazette.

Notice there was still snow on the ground back then. Not as much as we have after the blizzard of the past few days.

Deb: I posted a message to you late last night saying that Silver River Falls on Skanee Road are always running strong! Summer is when I am there enjoying them. It would be fun to see all the falls at this time of year.

Happy Easter from W.Pensacola, FL...We had ice pellets mixed with rain early this a.m., only 43 degrees here.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, April 8, 2007 - 01:39 pm:

Pugvait, inquiring minds (mainly my youngest son) are curious to know what you did with your Easter egg hunt--did you hide white eggs, or was that a joke, or what? That really is funny, but it could be a big mess, if you did it and forgot where some of the eggs were hidden. :-)

Do I remember that there's a Silver Falls up in Copper Country, as well as the one east? Or am I dreaming?

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Sunday, April 8, 2007 - 07:16 pm:

We had sleet snow and rain mixed late last night outside of Houston. Nothing stuck of course, but it is quite the sight to see here, let alone in April.

The Dr. and I were out on Good Friday getting pics of the bluebonnets and other wildflowers between here and Austin. It is a wonderfully beautiful sight, but we had to get off the main roads because the people were driving like morons looking at the flowers and not where they were going. Luckily we found some really quiet backcountry roads to get photos.

There is a silver falls in the Copper Country. It is near Lake Bailey off from M-26 and if memory serves me correctly, there are two falls in that area; one next to 26 and another downstream....

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, April 8, 2007 - 08:39 pm:

Thank you, Capt Paul. That is about the area I was thinking. We do have some pictures of that Silver Falls, and they are beautiful.

When you get a chance, would you please put your bluebonnet and other wildflower pictures in your photo album on pasty? I agree, that driving on the main roads to look at bluebonnets near Easter would be a disaster. From what I read, it sounded almost like driving in Yellowstone Ntl Park when everyone stopped to gaze at grizzly bears or other wildlife. But, there are some great backcountry roads over in that area that hopefully had some great fields of flowers while you all were out! I do hope that the sleet, snow, & rain mix waited until you after got home. Driving in that with people who aren't used to driving in it would be a real mess! (But then there was a 40-car pileup on US 23 near Fenton last night apparently because of near whiteout conditions; that made the national news.)

Happy Easter to all! It sure will be one I will never forget! It is colder now than it has been all winter here in N.Ga. I called my sister Margaret Spellich Anderson yesterday and she said to wish a Happy Easter to those who may remember her. Fran
