Knocking down the snowbanks in Keweenaw County. This shot, from eight years ago, is quite a contrast with today. The snowbanks left of their own accord this year, helped along by a warm spell and lots of rain.

Regardless, there are mornings when I'd like to have one of these babies to make short work of the driveway. There seems to be such a brief period of time between when your offspring willingly get up to help with the snow removal and when they just won't get out of bed :-)

First PostGood Morning. Glad you had easy snow cleanup this year, Dean.

Good morning from San Jose. Today is the birthday of Cesar Chavez and a city and county holiday. The weather has been almost perfect for the last few days, so I will be riding my bike on the trail later today.

I would love to be taking the day off in Senor Chavez' honor!! Feliz cumpleanos!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, March 30, 2007 - 09:58 am:

Good Morning! Happy Friday!

I'll second you motion, Dean, about the brief period of time when kids willingly get up to help & when they just won't get out of bed. My youngest guy is very difficult to get out of bed in the morning, just to go to school, even though he loves school & is a very good student. My oldest son wasn't nearly as hard to get up in the morning, but then he would get his homework done & go to bed at an almost reasonable time, too. :-)

Good Morning It's 33 years ago today that I lost my little sister Janice 23 years old through her domestic violence death. I would have given anything to live our years out with each other. She was 23 years old & I was 33 years old at the time. We had so many wonderful childhood memories together growing up. We each had children & we had plans of enjoying more fun times together with all of our children. But God had another plan for you.Our time was short!!!!
Jan, you missed out in seeing your three kids being raised. They've grown into beautiful, wonderful responsibles adults with good careers, spouses & children. You are now a grandmother to 8 beautiful grandchildren. You have 5 cute little granddaughters (ages 11 down to 1 1/2 years old)& 3 handsome young grandsons.(Age 7 years down to 2 years). Our family reunion party would be full of fun with just our kids, their spouses & all of the kids. Rick & I have 9 grandchildren already & I don't think the kids are done yet. Ha Ha.
I know as much as you loved your children Jan that you must be keeping tabs on all of them & me & my family from up in heaven. There is one of Missy's little girls. Aili who looks just like Missy did the last time you saw Missy. And she's a sweetheart just like your Missy Lu & full of pi-s& vinegar just like Missy Lu was. Ha Ha
Just didn't want to day to go by without letting you know that I still & will always miss my dear sister Janabeth. I lost my best friend on the evening you left all of us. In all of these years I have never forgotten your anniversary. Maybe in a few years from now, we'll all be able to enjoy that party in the sky together. I'll recognize that pretty face with the long dark hair with that cute little body for sure. I'll be a few pounds heavier & older but I don't think you could pass me up. HaHa I will be tending to your grave in a very short time & I'll have my usual talk with you. I'm sure you're happy with God in his Kingdom. Pray that I can attend that party in his Kingdom in the sky someday. Put in a good word for me hey Sis!! I love you & really miss you. "YOU WERE THE BEST SISTER ONE COULD I WAS THE LUCKY ONE TO SAY "HEY, SHE'S MY SISTER" Goodnight Jan. Love & Kisses from Your big sister, Cheryl Sneak a kiss to Mom from me.

I'm also remembering Cotton's sister, Jan today. If she's anything like Cotton, she's a wonderful person with a big heart. It's a hard day for Cotton and we're all thinking about her.
