This shot from eight years ago demonstrates the power of Lake Superior -- it can even stop a US highway :-)

US-45 is one of the major US highways with its headwaters in the western U.P. The other is, of course, our own US-41, where you will find a similar sign letting you know you can take the route all the way to Miami. Why you would want to is a question for another day :-)

Speaking of US 41, just got back from Florida and traveled US 41, aka Alligator Alley, down near Everglades City. Went on a little gravel fishing road through the Big Cypress Swamp Preserve where you are up close and personal with gators and any other inhabitants. 26 miles of excitement for me. Got some interesting pictures. Too bad I don't have the technology to post any of them. The friends I was with had a hard time believing that US 41 goes all the way up to the U.P. A road that can give you scenic beauty from moose to alligators, from thimble berry bushes to bromilliads....let's hear it for US 41.

Oops, too small, (I usually get them too big), it has a problem and now I can't fix it. It's a picture of the end of 41 in Copper Harbor. Sorry. Gotta love computers.

Good Morning, remember the best part of the lake at the end of these highways compared to the ocean at the other end is that nothing in the water will eat you up here. Assuming it is warm enough to get in.

Good Morning everyone! 35 degrees, windy, blue sky here in Houghton. It's nice to see the sun and warm temps. Hope the snow is over for this winter.
